Hi, my name is JACKMCHAMMOCKLASHING! Just here as I am new to using a mobility scooter...

Hi everyone, Just here as I am new to using a mobility scooter, and need all the advice I can get,
I am 80 yrs old, and the only way I can get about is with my mobility scooter
I did not have a lot of cash, so I bought a cheap scooter a Greenpower JH500
Not very quick and it seems to becoming a buy cheap buy twice type of thing it is fully charged but still slow, Is it possible to make it a little quicker, ( I do not want a motorbike just a bit quicker to take me through the woods towards town
Thank you all Jack

A class 3 scooter is limited to 8 mph in the UK (4 mph on pavements, 8 mph on the road). Some are capable of 15 mph, but only for use on private land.
My TGA Breeze S4 can only do 8 mph, and I find that quite fast enough. Just how fast do you need to go on a mobility scooter?

And Google says that a JH500 scooter is capable of reaching speeds of up to 15mph!

Yes it can, but you would be driving it illegally unless on private land, and with the owner's permission.

I just want to get to my family four miles away across the woods, so far taking me half an hour each way, I do not want to race through the town centre,
Lots of people say they can do 15kmh off road, but I have no idea how they do it One company offers to do it for £100 and it only takes five minutes
Oh well I do not think it would be safe to buy a Harley Davison Trike at 140 mph aged 80

Go as fast as you like, but just don't hit anyone. Then you will be up the creek.

Hi! There is a risk that they will only be able to reprogram the speed display, increasing it on the speedometer, without changing the actual speed.

I spend 2-3 hours per day on my scooter, and am yet to be in such a hurry, that I can't obey the UK speed limits.
I would rather arrive at my destination safely, than risk hurting an innocent member of the public, who have the right to go about their business in safety.

I agree, though I live over four miles away from my family through woods and it woud be easier if I could get there earlier, I am not a racing nut I am 80 years old so thank you for your advice
