Should I start maybe thinking of finding a boyfriend online through another community?

Hi currently I'm limbo or rather feel as i am, I've been trying wirh the idea for ages now about joining another online disabled community, but I'm feeling like I can't because I'm too scared of what my family will think and tell me to get off it! Or do I don't for me and **** the consequences.

Hi @pooleemily29
Dating sites can definitely be daunting but if you really want to do it then you should definitely give it a go! You can always delete your account if you don't get on it0 -
@Mary_Scope I could but I've always got to think about what my family might think.

I understand @pooleemily29, family opinions can carry a lot of weight. But at the end of the day, youโre the one living your life. Itโs okay to think about their perspective, but your happiness and what you think, need and want matter too!

I agree with @Mary_Scope as she is wise in the ways of life and love.
I love my family with all my heart, but there does come a time where you have to get out of their shadow a bit and stop letting them wrap you up in so much cotton wool. I'm sure they're just wanting to look out for you, but your opinion matters too, as it is your life.I'd try and have a chat with them and let them know how you're feeling. ๐

Hi Emily,
I think being disabled, it can be worrying starting to date online due to ableist attitudes people may have and how you are perceived.
Even though it is difficult to put yourself out there, it can end up in a success. I met my boyfriend on an online dating site. He extremely supportive and very encouraging.
I would try it, and as Mary says, if it feels too much you can always delete โบ๏ธ

@Lucy_Scope hi Lucy it's @pooleemily29 when it comes to nighttime I have this problem where I can't stop thinking about what it would be to have that loving and supportive boyfriend next to me that probably a bit over dramatic to you i feel like I've got this massive gap in my heart that wants to be filled but I'm terrified of actually committing too young anything for fear of what other people might say. When the truth is I'm absolutely terrified I'll end up on my own for the rest of my life and never know the happiness. @pooleemily29

Hi @pooleemily29,
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing such anxiety. Your emotions are valid.
It is understandable that you are nervous to date. It is a new activity you have not done before.
It may be better if you do not put pressure on yourself for 'finding the one'. Maybe just have an aim of meeting new people ๐
As we have mentioned, you can always delete your profile if you find it overwhelming.
Best wishes,
Lucy
