Vicki Wilson: Championing Disability Inclusion Through Business and Policy Change

Disabled entrepreneur and advocate Vicki Wilson, founder of Vicki Admin Fairy®, is celebrating a weekend of national recognition, both for her business journey and her commitment to supporting disabled-led enterprise.
On Thursday 9th May 2025, Vicki received the Inspiring Journey Award at the prestigious Woman Who Achieves Awards. The award, presented to women who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, recognises Vicki’s growth as a disabled entrepreneur and her mission to empower others with similar experiences to build businesses of their own.
“Living with cerebral palsy has shaped how I work, but it has never stopped me from pursuing my goals,” Vicki shared. “This award isn’t just for me—it’s for every disabled person who’s been told they can’t. I want people to know that self-employment is not only possible, but powerful.”
Following her award win, Vicki was personally invited by Michelle Ovens CBE, co-chair of the Lilac Review and founder of Small Business Britain, to the House of Lords on Monday 12th May to attend the launch of the Lilac Review Final Report. The report outlines bold policy recommendations to dismantle barriers faced by disabled entrepreneurs across the UK.
One of the report’s major focus areas is access to finance. It reveals that 57% of disabled entrepreneurs identify financial support as their most critical need in the next year. Current financial mechanisms often fail to account for the specific challenges faced by disabled business owners. The Lilac Review recommends developing more flexible lending solutions—such as payment holidays and tailored repayment terms—designed with the realities of disabled entrepreneurs in mind.
“Being part of this conversation at such a high level was deeply moving,” said Vicki. “Lived experience is being recognised as expertise, and we are finally being included in the solutions.”
The Lilac Review Final Report launched on Monday and includes a range of recommendations, six of which focus on Financial Services. One key recommendation is: 'To develop flexible lending options to meet diverse business needs.'

@trouble5316 I think this report will kick things off now for people with disabilities and help them and the employers understand it bit better. I know myself that my career was to be in the army but I couldn't because of CP but I'd love to be a self employed Author of romance fiction books one day not entirely sure that's going to happen tbh i love writing it's one of the things that have helped me in the past. I have my own computer but don't go on it much because of my epilepsy. Are you going to read the report yourself? @pooleemily29 😃🙏
