I was watching the news this morning and paper reviews and it said as a concession to the bank bench rebellion they are going to put it back apparently. They want to give us more time to prepare for the changes.

rather than giving us more time what they need to do is have a complete reset and a cabinet change with Starming getting shut of his right hand man and advisor McSweeney (who apparently dictates policy) ….

u turn on the winter fuel allowance ✅

scrapping the 2 child benefit cap ✅

u turn on the benefits cap ✅

If Labour did the above they'd adhere themselves to the diehard Labour loyalist which they're losing at a great rate of knots, couple that with other policies farmers, fishing, immigration ect which need rethinking ….

There's a lot of talk of taxing the wealthy even more than they do already but that is not the way to go as they are the backbone of industry and will just leave this country (which they are at the rate of a millionaire an hour) ….

everyone should be responsible in getting this country out of the hole it finds it's self in so in my eyes the simple solution is to increase VAT by a couple of % …..

stop the boats (use our navy) , stop the hotel accommodation for them (£145 per person per day - tents will do ), stop gifting money to France who do sod all but wave them off !

and while we're at it stop the aid to the Ukraine (£18 billion and counting)

this country is in a mess and charity needs to start at home !

I've been able to use a paywall unblocker and I've taken screenshots of the Times article so we can all read it. 😊 I've cropped them to remove photos of the usual smug looking politictions. They'd even included a picture of Farage! 🤢

There is also lots of talk from other papers about changes to cuts to the WFA and 2 child benefits cap . Very sadly there is no mention of any you turn on the green paper. I think they might delay it slightly, but it will go ahead to pay for the other cuts

I'd save yourself the walk. The so called concessions will do absolutely nothing to help us. 😡 About as much as we could expect from morally bankrupt low life like them. Please see the screenshots above.

Well, it looks like the Torys are going to support the bill. Just from Sky.

Could Tories support Labour's benefit reforms?

Kieran Mullan, the Conservative shadow justice minister, is speaking to us on behalf of the opposition this morning.

He is asked about his take on Labour looking to reform welfare - including making certain payments harder to get and encouraging more people to work.

Mullan says the Conservatives wanted to implement similar changes when they were in government - but Labour opposed them.

He adds: "We'll have to look what they actually put forward to parliament.

"There's a lot of speculation at the moment around what exactly it is that they're going to do.

"But of course, it's reasonable in a situation where there are people, again, working hard, paying taxes to expect people who could be working more, who aren't working at all, to make reasonable efforts to seek work."

With a lot of discontent in the Labour Party, support from the Conservatives could provide helpful to parliamentary arithmetic - but would probably be even more toxic for the government in terms of imag

I read that the claims that pip reforms would hurt young people with MH and neurodivergent was a smokescreen. Apparently it’s older people with physical conditions that will be most affected. Personally I don’t think it should matter what condition you have , if it stops you working so you can have a decent standard of living you should get pip.

a 1p increase on VAT would raise 7 billion per year …

this government want to impose disability cuts that will save about 5 billion a year ….

    do the decent thing !

PIP was set up to cover the extra costs of living with your disability. It is why the questions are being asked as to what we spend our PIP money on to see if it is actually being used to fund the extra costs associated with our disability or if it is being used to pay usual bills and housekeeping because it was never supposed to be used for those things.

Of course at the time cost of living was nowhere near as high as it currently is and we all have tough choices to make as to how we spend our PIP money. I cannot always afford the things I need to help make my life easier or better because when you have a fixed income and bills keep rising you have to make the difference up with your PIP money.

The government don't think PIP should be given to people with mental health issues as they shouldn't have extra costs so don't need PIP the same way people with physical disabilities do. I would say that people with some mental health conditions especially ones which make leaving home almost impossible use their PIP to pay for taxi's to and from doctors or counselling appointments so you do have extra costs even if you get PIP for mental health reasons.

Something does have to change though. The benefit bill is too high as it currently stands and one reason for it being so high is that the government has to subsidise people who work fulltime as their wages are not high enough for them to support their family or pay stupidly high rents. Investing in low cost social housing would eventually help the situation across the country but it is going to take huge levels of investment to build millions of affordable homes, social care needs huge investment, policing needs huge investment to keep communities safe, so many things in our country needs huge investment we are falling behind other countries and if we don't act eventually we are not going to be a first world country. We need more tax being paid so a wealth tax would help but not too high or people will just leave the country and then we lose all of their tax contributions it is a tricky situation but encouraging growth of small business is a start, actually making things in the UK again would help and create jobs.

Giving people hope and a way to move forward would also significanly improve the mood of the country we are fed a diet of doom and gloom daily and then people wonder why mental health is deteriorating. It is a viscous cycle and we need to break it.

The government should reduce all PIP payments by £100 per month to make the savings they say they want to make. I think we would accept it if it meant that nobody would be left absolutely destitute. Use the money to create job opportunities and help the disabled people who can work and want to work to find employment and maybe actually help people who cannot work to have a standard of living, improve access to counselling, improve community transport, improve social services etc etc.

Just my personal thoughts I would be interested to hear what other people think needs to be done or can be done to help the country as a whole get to where we need to be.

    You're welcome to that! 😊

Thank you for your promise of future research of these sadistic proposals to post on here.👌The truth and how immoral plus unlawful these proposals are seem to not faze the Labour Leadership one bit in what they want to force upon us. Completely shameless. 😤

Isn't it funny how there seem to be so little in the way of checks and balances these days? 🤔 I remember a time when politicians wouldn't have dared go this far, with the media aiding and abetting them.

I aways look deeper into what is being said myself. The lengths these monsters, especially Loathsome Liz will go to to twist the narrative and minimise our concerns is breathtaking.

How can they take the moral high ground by putting millions of highly vulnerable disabled people who are unable to work due to their health conditions into destitution, homelessness and utter dispair? 🤔

I believe that no amount of gaslighting will stop the amount of support we have got. Backbench Labour MPs have said themselves that they are sick of having their opinions disrespected or dismissed.

They all know the terrible truth and the effect that it's having on the reputation of the Labour Party and on their seats in future elections.

They've also said that they will not be bought off by any trade offs either, bringing advantages to other vulnerable groups at our expense, that morally, they won't entertain that.

Whether that support will be ENOUGH to force the government to back down will be known soon enough. If not, the legal challenges can begin. They seem to have gone against every equality and human rights law that there is so we have a great chance of success with that

We would have to hold our nerve over a long period of time though. We must be prepared for that and how challenging that will be. ✊
