I have just been let down by the CAB to do a home visit to do mine & my husbands online migration online forms, they were coming the 18th June & my deadlines the 21st June.

So now I Googling videos of how to do this.

We both have passports to upload, both scanned onto my PC, but I have just read that you need to upload passport & then upload myself holding passport & my husband holding his passport.

Is this correct?

You don’t need to "upload" your passport, or anything else during the proof of ID at the migration stage. It's the passport numbers and expiry dates you'll need, and you enter them manually. You'll need one other method too… For example, information from your credit reference file.

    Oh thank goodness for that!

We both have credit card agreements as 2nd proof, I hope thats ok?

I need to do mine by end of August. Is passport and provisional driving licence enough as I don't have any credit agreements?

If you choose the financial information option, the system will ask you 3/4 different questions from your credit file such as: "How long is it since you took out a mobile phone contract?" and give you several multiple choice answers to choose from. You have 5 chances to satisfy this option successfully, so familiarise yourself with your credit history before you begin.

If you fail 5 times, a phone call or vist to a Job Centre will follow to verify your IDs.

So driving licence isn't an option, that's a pain.

    @kiny33

Someone else come on my post, so I'm confused.

So the credit card agreement isnt enough? My husband only as a top up phone, no idea when I took out my mobile phone.

We dont drive, but he as an out of date driving license.

We have utility bills, credit card statements, council tax bills.

I just thought you uploaded the documents, not upload one document then additional docs to prove the original document.

    I'm even more confused.

This list of docs needed as proof ie wageslip, P60 we dont have as we're on ESA & not working ( my husbands 71 but on my ESA claim & recieves his state pension, which is deducted from our ESA).

Three months I've trying to collate information for these forced migrations & still dont have the correct info. He was diagnosed with cancer when these migration notices came through, so its been a nightmare. We cant go to job centres, both not well enough.

I dont know what other info I can provide, absolutely clueless now & even more stressed

You maybe will be able to verify your IDs with the phone call that will be offered if you tick that you don’t have the required 2 sets of ID for online variation. If you really cannot manage to attend a Job Centre, then a home visit can be requested, but, I believe it wouldn't be quick and would potentially delay your claim.

To reiterate, you DO NOT need to "upload" ANYTHING for ID at migration stage.

Well no choice with claim being delayed, as my husbands having cancer treatment & is having awful side effects, hes back in the Marsden tomoz. I cant believe I got advice from the Help to Claim line number on the Migration letter mentioned the ID & they said uploaded & never mentioned any of this about credit file questions. We dont even have credit files & I havent the energy left to start searching. Both our memories are shot, so not a chance we'll remember dates of when we got credit cards, phones etc at the min I dont even know what day of the week it is!

    Absolute nightmare.

    Thanks anyway

Fingers crossed, you'll both be successful and verify your IDs via the phone call that you'll receive shortly after submitting your claim. Best of luck with it, I know and understand that it can't be easy for you both and I wish you both well. Take care. 💐

Stupid question, but what will they ask on a phone? How on earth do I prove ID over a phone?

I couldn't possibly answer that. It'll be information they hold and know about you both, that only you would know the answer to.

Hi. I have been awake all night trying to collate this credit info..

I pay monthly to Sky for my mobile, the phone I bought from them paid monthly & was paid off some time back. I still use the same phone & only pay now for its set monthly data ( or whatever its called) is that still classed as a mobile phone contract?

    Hi,

The initial contract counts as credit because you don't own the phone until you have paid it off.

It sounds like you now have a rolling monthly tariff just for data & calls, that is likely to be pay as you go and not classed as credit.

If you have a biographical call, they'll ask you things about previous benefits, bank accounts, possibly past work and education. It has to be things that only you know, but also that the government have access to.

I've had to extend this dead line till 19/07/26. UC rung earlier to remind me my deadlines getting near, I broke down in tears as my husband was just being taken to the Marsden & the UC man suggested an extension as I sounded distraught.

So hopefully I get this nightmare sorted.

I also rung the Help to Claim re ID proof & was told my hubbys expired drivers license ( 2024) & birth certificates would do, along with the current passports.

Sorry to hear this, at least the extension takes some of the pressure off right now.

If you go to a Job Centre or have a home visit then birth certificates and expired driving licence can be used. They won't be accepted through the online system though.

But how would they know when I took out my (last) phone contract or about my credit/debit cards and their history, for them to know whether my answers are correct, as I've never provided them with these? All they've from me in their records are my phone number and bank account details.

I am in the process of completing my migration application, which is due by the end of next month.

I would like to confirm whether I will be able to verify my identity online using my passport and driving licence, or if attendance at the job centre is required for this step.

They use Credit Reference agencies such as Experian and Equifax. All of that information is readily available to anyone that you ask for a loan or a credit contract.

If your passport and driving licence are both still valid & in date then those can be used to verify ID online.

The problem for many of us is that we only have one of these, or that they've expired before the migration.
