It's like something out of Hitler's playbook, work will set you free indeed.

It's a very grey area I think @Ross1975 I've been there as well and I actually found a bit of encouragement really helped my mental health and the more I did something, the more comfortable I became, which again helped the mental health. It can be a positive snowballing effect if done correctly and tailored to the individual. If done badly, it can make an individuals conditions a lot worse, dangerously so.

But of course it will be different for every person and in some cases, it will be impossible to make it work. They seem to be wanting to try a one size fits all coaching method, which will fail in many cases.

What about work coaches “ encouraging “ those of us with physical conditions ie ME and fibromyalgia? My pain and fatigue is so bad I’m mostly house / bed bound . Just sitting in a chair for short periods of time tire me out. Pushing people with ME is actually harmful to us . Where would we stand legally if we lose pip plus lcwra ?

I'd really be hoping the work coaches used some common sense and saw you'd be unable to work @secretsquirrel1 🤞

It’s like the assessor situation, all to do with luck as to who your work coach / assessor is .

That’s just not fair , we don’t getting enough rest in between assessments as it is . Yet I hear of people still on DLA , doesn’t make sense

I agree, if done correctly I can see it improving some people's mental health.

What I'm worried about though are work coaches who don't do it correctly, and especially work coaches who are not understanding and don't have empathy and expect you to just get a grip, I would be done for if I had to start seeing a work coach like that with the threat of sanctions, I wouldn't survive. This is one of my worst nightmares.

I think if certain people have to engage with a workcoach, and lets say you have social anxiety, can't engage with people properly etc then the reasonable adjustments will have to be made. They can't force you to attend a JC if it would put you in danger or more distress, there are laws which protect us against that. The equality act 2010 for one, and your human rights too, I think most of us would just have to engage periodically either on the phone or through your online journals. If they try force me to a JC i'll be taking legal action against the DWP, the workcoach, and JC involved. I refuse to let them scare me, intimidate me, or make threats of me losing my benefits, when the law is on my side. It's all utter nonsense, and more scare tactics by the government and Kendall to demoralise us and beat us down, don't fall for it, it's completely illegal, immoral, and unworkable.

Thank you . They should say that pip will always be there as long as you get a 4 point, nothing to do with being sick or disabled

to be honest this government haven’t got the best track record for sticking to their word. They said they wouldn’t back down to the WFA, they u-turned. The two children cap, they said they wouldn’t back down, they backed down. The consultation is completely lawful, so will be likely challenged.

Remember they haven’t completely u-turned on the WFA. I think all pensioners got this until last year, then it was those only on pension credit, that left those just over the threashold to choose between eating or heating, last winter. Now I believe that pensioner with annual income no more than £35,000 will receive it this year.

That a softening of the cut to the WFA. I think we will see the same thing if I’m honest - not a complete u-turn or scrapping of the cuts, but a watered down proposal, remember know we know MPs are voting on it, they can voice their concerns etc.
