Good Afternoon,

My daughter who is Year 5 is having a Educational Pysch assessment next Wednesday. What sort of questions will they ask me and what are good questions I should ask them to help get the best out of the meeting. Thank you

Hi @Shireen22 and a warm welcome to the community from me!

They will probably ask you about your daughter’s early development, any delays or concerns you have, her behaviour at home, how she manages with learning and any diagnoses or support she currently has etc. They may also want to know how she gets on socially and emotionally at home and at school.

It may be helpful to ask the educational psycholgist what your daughter’s strengths and challenges are, whether they see signs of any specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and what classroom support they would recommend. It can also be good to ask if they think she may need an EHCP or if SEN Support would be enough, what strategies might help at home, and whether this assessment could lead to further referrals etc

There is some more information on the assessment here and here

If you need any more information or support, please reach back out and I hope this assessment goes well😄
