Universal credit query

I should have said, the run on payment arrives around 2 weeks after you apply for UC.
The first UC payment then arrives around 3 weeks after that.

Ah ok, I was going to give it a while as thought it took 5 weeks but they day after ESA payment, then the 2 week run on next ESA payment then 3 weeks later adds up to 5. I just thought I'd lose ESA and housing benefit if I claimed too early.
I read something on the.gov site saying something about an interview but guess that's for new claimants.
I don't have to go to my city council office to tell them to pay my housing association as UC do it all if that's correct?
Thanks..I'll post if I need to if ok. I get brain fog

Also I meant that I think it's my local city council that pays my HB as I go in there with new evidence like rent increase etc...so I guess they all in cahoots with each other
I guess I don't have to go in there to arrange a direct debit or anything, as it automatically happens when I request rent payment to go directly to my housing association when filling the form in?

Yes when you apply for UC DWP will let HB know to end you claim, and if you ask UC to pay your rent directly to HA they will sort that out.

Thanks, I have contacted my housing association as I was told to put separately rent and service charge.
I guess in the form to fill in there is a place to put who my Housing association is.They said they would call me on Monday to help however don't think I need because of help here.
My ESA is due this Wednesday so I'll either do it Thursday or Thursday after the following fortnight.

also i have my mail sent to my families house but my flat where i get housing benefit is a different address.
Should i put the flats address or my other home address at my families where i get all my mail, when applying ? I've watched this https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=universal+credit+form+filling+in & there seems to be nowhere to put rent or service charger but i guess i do that in the journal.

You should put your home address on the application form. You won't get anything in the post for UC anyway, it's all done electronically through the Journal.
There will be a section about housing costs and where you live on the application form.
You can see a dummy form here:

I have 2 home addresses. The flat i have that i have that i claim HB that i'm there occasionally nowadays but hopefully more in the future & the house where my family are as i'm helping out as elderly & that is where i receive my postal mail. Like a forwarding address as post got pinched etc.
Basically i live in 2 places..my flat & my families house but i have stuff sent to both addresses. My DWP, Bank stuff is sent to my families house but my flat is where i get HB. Not sure which to put..

Because you get housing benefit at your flat, and are applying for housing element at your flat, I think that's the address you should put. Otherwise UC are going to want to know why and it may well complicate things.
As advised all correspondence for UC is sent electronically via Journal anyway.

Yes , all my mail for DWP, banking, PIP, goes to my families corresponding address. The letter to migrate, everything. Is this a problem as I'll be applying for a different address.
I don't want any benefit letters sent to the flat address.
Was wondering if there'd be a problem with a corresponding address. It's always been my address for such letters
As you say it's all done via journal anyway. I could write there where I want mail sent as a corresponding address maybe.
Will i need to go for an interview at jobcentre after my application has been submitted as i've seen it mentioned a few times.

Citizens Advice offer a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after your claim.
I'd recommend asking them about the address issue and getting their advice.
As I've said several times any letters Universal Credit send you will be in electronic format uploaded to your Journal. Nothing will come through the post from UC.
Some people do go into the Job Centre yes to verify ID if online verification fails, and if a biographical ID check fails (a telephone call where you are asked questions about your personal details that only you know).
There are quite a few posts about ID checks here on the forum if you browse through.

Ok am sorry. I can write on journal about my correspondence address issue maybe once I have an account.
I doubt I'll need ID as I have but the vid from DWP benefits UK said everyone has to go for interview.
Sorry I know I'm laborious as my anxiety overwhelms me. I'll get on it and send after ESA payment maybe Thurs or fortnight on Thurs, and report back.
Again apologies.

You don't have anything to apologise for ๐

Thanks.
My ESA due Wed, thinking about cracking on with it tomorrow or wait a fortnight..
I'm off to bed soon, i appreciate your words.. I've always got something to ask but yes i will ask citizens advice but they can be a nightmare wanting to know if wanting to start a case or something, is why i prefer here.,..
I make a big issue over stuff like this, anxiety sucks but think i got enough info from you to get it started.. Think i've enough time between now & Thurs.. I read wrong yesterday, nothing will change financially whatever day i do it, it's the 5 week process as you say.
Have a nice night

Don't forget your Housing Association also offered help ๐

Yes I think they will contact me tomorrow but unsure if it's filling the whole form in or just the rent part.
If I new how big the form was I could try to do it for Thursday. I guess it's only transferring from one to another so may not be too long.
Probably best for the following fortnight

I linked earlier to a dummy claim form for UC ๐ In my post beginning "you should put your home address".
So you can read through the application form, see how long it is, what questions are asked.
All applications to UC are treated as new claims, even for those migrating from legacy benefits. Hence why everyone has to prove id.

Ok I will have a look.
I was wondering that, like if just migrating thered be no chance I won't get it. As you say they have all my info from ESA and I get that.

You qualify for Income Related ESA so odds are you qualify for UC.
What usually excludes people from UC entirely is capital over ยฃ16k so money in the bank, property you don't live in etc, or a partner you live with who earns over the threshold for a couples claim.

Thanks,
Also the using my families house as correspondence address I've used for years, I'm sure there is a place on the form to write this. I'll have a look at the dummy form and see what Northern counties say.
