DWP says fit to work -v- signed unfit by GP?

Hi all, new UC claimant here on UC + PIP (low mobility). At the recommendation of my work coach I applied for limited capability for work. Just been advised that decision is I'm fit to work (I'll appeal), and so my current GP unfit note no longer applies. How can a GP state you're unfit to work but DWP override that? How is that possible? Thanks.

Because you are applying for DWP benefits, unfortunately the outcome of their own Work Capability Assessment process overrules anything your GP might say/do, including Fit Notes.

Can you clarify what has happened? Was he due to get an ESA payment today and how much was this? How much was receiving on income based ESA? Has he spoken to someone from UC and been told that he is going to receive 0? If so he needs to get UC to give him a breakdown of how his UC has been calculated? If he has an on line claim he should be able to see a breakdown in the payments section. You say that his pay wasn't sanctioned for payment to the landlord what do you mean by this? Has UC paid the rent directly to the landlord without his permission or do you mean something else?

MrBrightside, what you doing is what you can do, reconsideration, then if thats unfavourable, afterwards appeal. Ideally try to get the help of someone like CAB or anyone else with experience of the benefit system.

I dont know what the current rules are for a case thats pending reconsideration/appeal in terms of mandated work activity.

Catherine he needs to show you his statement, which breaks down why they have decided on a payment amount. Also to check for anything in the journal as they might be expecting something from him.
