Hi I recieved my first Pip review forms. I was not due till next year March. Anyways I am trying to fill it in with as much details I can. Along with my Psoriatic Arthritis I have been diagnosed with Finromyalgia as well. I am having anxiety about all this all over again. Could anyone please share how long this procedure will take. Will there be a phone review after sending these forms or do I have to go for face to face appointment.
thank you so much for this community.

Its always helpful whenever I feel lost .

    Hello @535mum.

PIP reviews can feel overwhelming and you are not alone in how you are feeling.

There are still long delays with PIP reviews so you may be waiting a while even once you send your form back. We've heard from members waiting between 9 months and some up to 2 years. That said, experiences do vary, and a few people report hearing back within a matter of weeks.

As long as you return the review form by your deadline, your PIP payments should continue uninterrupted until the decision is made.

The DWP will review your form and any supporting evidence. In most cases this leads to a telephone, video, or face-to-face assessment, although a paper-based review is sometimes possible, but I would advise most people to prepare for an assessment as paper-based decisions are quite rare.

Did you have a face-to-face assessment when you made your original claim?

I can only talk about the timescales of my own review. I have progressive/degenerative condition.

Telephone appointment with assessment centre a couple of days after the deadline to return the review form (assessment centre advised they only had my initial claim form and evidence, not the review form and up to date evidence).

1 week after assessment centre DWP decision made and sent (no longer entitled to PIP).

MR returned around the month deadline.

MR decision took around 5 weeks.

Appeal form submitted 1 month after receipt of MR decision.

Hearing will be around 16 months after appeal was submitted.

So in my case DWP processed things fairly quickly their end.

Update: Sent off my review forms and recieved a text from DWP.

We have received your PIP review form. We may contact you for more information or you may need an assessment with a health professional before we make our decision. We will contact you again if you do. You will continue to get PIP while your award is being reviewed. You only need to contact us if your circumstances change.

I will try my best to keep you all updated on it.

    Thanks

update: Dwp sent a letter that my pip award is extended to march 2027. Because it is still under review. My pip expiry was march 2026. They said they will write again when the review is completed and it could be before march 2027. If they have not completed the review by march 2027 they will write again to extend.
I will update again when they write to me.

    The waiting is so frustrating.

    It varies so much.

Mine took 5 months paper based and my partners took just 2 weeks paper based.

hi there, did they say why no longer else? Did you supply up to date evidence ? Currently going through review, convinced myself they might end award, very stressful

It was based on the Capita health professionals report. The report bore little resemblance to the conversation/my assessment with some statements being the opposite to what I said, some being 'assumptions'? (as those things were never mentioned) and some being an 'interpretation' or were, I felt, very misleading.

Yes, I supplied up to date evidence e.g. scan results, consultant letters, current prescription list, which all showed my condition had worsened and a recent Care Act assessment which highlighted some of the things I had been assessed as needing support with.

Fortunately the tribunal reinstated my PIP and referred to the evidence I had provided to back up their decision.

Good Luck with your review! It really is such a stressful process :(
