I am the founder director of the Accessible Waterways Association
www.awa-uk.org.uk
Our aim is to make the UK's Inland Waterways system (canals and rivers) accessible for everyone equally.
I am registered as severely vision impaired and my husband, Tim, has a hearing impairment. We live aboard a narrowboat with our two assistance dogs; Loki, my guide dog (a pale yellow Labrador) and Ozzie, Tim's hearing assistance dog (a little pug x Chinese crested rescue dog that we have trained ourselves to alert Tim to the high-pitched alarms and bells that he cannot hear).
