CP - orthotics

Hi there

My son who is almost 4, has cerebral palsy. His left leg is mainly impacted. He’s been referred to orthotics for a splint but this is taking a long time. Has anyone got experience of this and whether the splint helped, or whether anyone has gone private and what their experience has been,

    Hi @emmavp and welcome to the community. I've added @Richard_Scope and @SaraC_Scope who work within our CP team and might be able to help. They don't work over the weekend but hopefully they'll be able to offer some advice when they return next week.

    I have sclosis kyphosis with mine they just said it's incurable as im too old

    Hi @emmavp,

    Apologies for the late response. Orthotics are really difficult to advise on as they are so different.

    My orthotic is particularly difficult to find shoes that fit.

    My best advice would be to shop in person. Try to understand components are needed from a shoe. For example, a level trainer with a flexible tongue and collar.

    It is trial and error, and may take some time to find something.

    People have found Billy Footwear and Nike helpful.

    I am sorry there is not a quick answer here.

    I used go an orthotic dept in accrington at the health there good but not good looking
