decision to start home schooling

Hi I have a daughter 13 with SEN and 3 yrs into trying and failing to I get a diagnosis for Autism and other things. She’s refused school on and off since primary and now in her 3rd year at high school, has not attended for a year and a half leading to the decision to start home schooling as of now. No idea what I’m doing but we are where are

Hi @kris123 and a warm welcome to the community from me!
It sounds like you’ve been through a lot and choosing home education is a big step. How are you both doing at the moment?
What does your daughter enjoy doing day to day? Or does she have particular interests or strengths you’re thinking about building her learning around? I know some families start with a “de-schooling” period when they begin focusing on wellbeing and low pressure activities to recover especially if their child is in burn out!
Local home education facebook groups can be quite a helpful starting point when it comes to home education and Scope also have some good information on homeschooling. There is also Education Otherwise who are a home education charity with a helpline so they may be helpful to reach out to for information and support as well as Educational Freedom who give free home education information and support in the UK
If you have any questions or would like further info/support please let me know and I'll do my best to support😊

hi I just wanted to come in here and say I didn't have a good experience when my mum homeschooled me for a year I was in complete shutdown mode and I used to just lie in bed every day. All I can suggest is to try it. Depending on the age of your daughter she might be able to go to college as I think they will take people on from the age of 14 if there is a real reason she is not coping in school. I hope this helps
