UC Sanctioned For Complaining

Hi, has anyone been sanctioned for submitting a complaint and a Subject Acess Request to UC?

We've had deductions made monthly for a debt we have proven we dont owe so we followed Stage 1 and 2 of complaints procedure.

At stage 2 we didnt get a final response and our SAR was ignored, (ICO pending)

We involved our MP as we didnt get a final response from DWP so we're not allowed to go to ICE.

We were asked to provide a timeline of this complaint via our uc journal or face sanction.

We haven't been paid at all this month, haven't received a statement either and I've been told the reason they've not released my statement is because I have an uncompleted to do. (Complaints timeline)

There's additional context on the methods used to excuse this as a mistake.

However, my 3 questions are,

Has anybody experienced this or similar?

How did it play out and what steps did you take to resolve it?

What was the single thing you done that made the most impact in finding a resolution?

Thanks.

Hi @EatTheRich, sorry you haven't had a reply to this yet. That all sounds very complex and stressful.

I've not heard of any similar cases myself I'm afraid, but I just wanted to reply so that your discussion would move back up to the front page and members can offer any advice they might have.

I'm glad to hear you've got your MP involved. Have you had anyone else helping you with the process? I don't know whether Citizen's Advice or a local Benefits Service could offer any support but it may be worth a look. Turn2Us have an advice finder if that's something that would be helpful: https://advicefinder.turn2us.org.uk/

Hope you can get it all resolved soon.

    Citizens Advice lol.

Yeah tried all routes. Nothing that immediately releases the payment though.

Ive Spoken to EASS and legal advisor on the disability discrimination I have faced.

Not much movement yet. Relying on food banks

    Hi,

Unfortunately UC are the only people who can remove a payment block on the journal.

Regardless of whether this is legally right or wrong, surely it's in your best interest just to provide them with the timeline?

It doesn't sound like you've been sanctioned yet. Just payment blocked, which happens for other reasons as well (ID verification, capital confirmation etc).

If your MP is useful then see if you can get them to speak directly to the manager at your Job Centre. (Not just the journal staff).
