I had the club jab this year but not the COVID booster because I was poorly the first time I had COVID-19 and only had it 3 times and I will never again have it.

Most people go throughout their life never getting flu. What most people call flu, is actually a cold, albeit a bad cold in many cases, but simply a cold.
With flu you will have a very high temperature and won't even be able to use a phone let alone go about your day. You'll be laid up in bed for many days. It's not until you have flu, that you realise how bad it really is and that it's not what most people believe is flu.
The vaccine isn't isn't live, so you can't catch flu from it.
I hope that moving forward your health will improve. X

I had flu when I was 16. It was truly awful. Thankfully at 53 I've never had it again. I got Covid before the vaccines, in fact before we had heard of it, and although I was extremely ill, at least I made it out of bed.
I started having the flu jab after that, then stopped as I was fit and healthy, but have had it the last few years since I am no longer young, fit, nor healthy. Whether it's needed I'm not sure, but I don't have any issues or reactions to it so might as well.
I had mine a couple of weeks ago and didn't even get a sore arm this time.

@Passerby I have to respectfully disagree with you, and am confident in what I say. I do not however want to discuss this matter further as I do not believe it would be for the benefit of the forum.

I'm in agreement with onlymeagain and a "falsehood" it is not.

I had 'flu' once at a similar age and it was horrendous, just as onlymeagain describes. I've don't think I've had it since nor do I get colds and I've never had Covid.

For those reasons, I choose not to have the annual vaccination though I'm 60+.

Please don't argue over this 😔 We're all ultimately on the same side!

I'm sure we can all agree that a lot of people do mistake bad colds or other illnesses as flu, but there are also many different strains and types of flu and severity of cases too!

I also don't think we should dismiss someone else's experience, we all know our bodies and lives are all different and react differently to stuff ❤️

I started getting mine in the pandemic because I live with an immunocompromised relative and I wanted to keep them safe. Prior to that I never even thought of it because I have so little experience actually getting flu :/ Colds, yes. But not flu.

I work with the public and so I don't want to take any risks that I don't need to take :)

I'm not eligible for covid vaccines anymore, fortunately my relatives are and have had both already this year. I used to be eligible for the covid one until they removed 'living with a vulnerable person'.

I had my flu jab back in October, it's more than two weeks now so fingers crossed it works :)

I’ve been getting mine regularly for a few years and always kept Covid at bay. That was until 2022 when I didn’t have my Covid Booster and the following year my now ex wife gave me Covid. This then led to long covid and which in all honesty I’m still paying the price for today. Since 2023 I’ve made sure to have both flu and Covid prevention shots, only this year my mental health has meant me keep changing my appointment. Just have to keep myself protected at all costs with me being vulnerable.

Mine is because of the multiple health conditions that I have, especially the breathing issues I have. I also got questioned as to how I manage my cerebral palsy, in all honesty I’ve lived with it for 42 years and have adjusted my life over the years to compensate.

I have had the letter for the flu jab but usually don't bother. I wasn't offered the COVID booster due to age, but I won't be losing any sleep.....

It can vary. I initially was offered it because I'd had flu the winter before. Then I was offered it because I'd had the Hepatitis C vaccine (For work). Now I am offered it because I have Diabetes and other health issues.
