Hi everyone,

My 11 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with ADHD. She has terrible executive function deficits , started on meds . Academics ok with additional tutoring and lenient strategies at home . Pass in grammar school 11+ . Sure to struggle during transition to secondary school without supports in place . Primary school refused to support with EHCP saying that she is doing well . She’s been masking at school and crashing at home .
Does anyone have any experience if she will get an occupational therapist or teaching assistant as a part of EHCP , now that school have refused the EHCP. Worried . Huge disparity between legal entitlement and real world situation support .

Hi @Diago and a warm welcome to the community from me!

Even if the school believes there is no need for an EHCP because your daughter is doing well, you can still request an EHCP assessment from your local authority.

It is only the local authority who can decide whether to refuse an EHCP, not the school so it is definitely worth contacting your LA and requesting an assessment if you believe your daughter would benefit from an EHCP.
