Work and LCWRA
Hello
my son gets UC & LCWRA. If he applies for a job does he need to tell UC or If he gets an interview ? Obviously if he gets the job if he applied for one he would tell them but would they take the LCWRA away straight away or what would happen ? Thank you

My understanding is you can work on UC with LCWRA but it can’t contradict what you are on LCWRA. So someone with a back injury would be contradicting doing work as a labourer on a building site. Or someone who has difficulty with communication/ mixing with others doing a job in a call centre. You need to let U.C. know and I am sure you can earn up to £411 a month if you get housing costs and £684 if you don’t. They will want to do a call/interview possibly to confirm what you are doing. I have one for my son tomorrow.

Ok thank you. Our son is so bored & wants to try working.
hope your interview for your son goes well tomorrow.1 -
He was awarded lcrwa in January, is there a way to get full report ?

I think you can ask for a copy by calling them.

Yes you can request a copy of the report (UC85) by phone or Journal message.

Ok so it’s not too late to ask?
maybe if we have the report we can see what job he could try?
His main issues are short term working memory & mild cerebral palsy so looking for a job that can make an adaption for those things he struggles with?0 -
No it's not too late, it's his data he has a right to receive it.
I got a copy of my PIP application months after the award, when I realised I'd deleted photos taken as a record!

ok thank you.
do you think it’s a good idea to go by the assessment report to see what job would be best suited?0 -
I think knowledge is a good thing, and knowing on what criteria he was awarded LCWRA would be useful.

Thank you, I just don’t want him or us to do anything wrong etc

Hi our son is in LCWRA and is self employed. Just had a phone call this morning to confirm what he has to do. He only does a couple of hours a week as a musician. The lady was lovely and she explained what I needed to do for him and put it through as not gainfully employed, explained that he would not need to look for work and it would not affect his LCWRA. With in minutes a notification came through to declare his earrings. The call took about 5 mins.

That’s good.

Our son would like to work in a supermarket stacking the shelves but I don’t know how realistic that is for him

perhaps let him have a go and just let uc know. If it doesn’t work out I can’t see it affecting his status on UC. Give them a call or ask in the journal. Good luck.

We just don’t want to do anything wrong.

One of my daughters does that on the night shift. Good money too. She prefers nights, as no contact with the public.

Is she on LCWRA? ?
0 -
No she doesn't claim any benefits, works too many hours. I guess the point to my post was that the likes of Tesco are a good bet for employment for your son.
