It's so exciting to see everyone's artwork. What a wide range of gorgeous and inspiring art forms. Wow!

This is my newly found artwork, which I started 1-1/2 years ago due to being housebound with my mobility disability. It's jewellery made primarily from second-hand jewellery donations that were made to a charity shop that I volunteer for. These are from the donations that couldn't be sold for various reasons, such as too dirty, old-fashioned, unacceptably ugly or broken. If I can't clean them and sell them, or fix them and sell them, I take them apart, then design and make new jewellery, which is then sold for charity. These are all my designs from this Christmas' collection…

They're beautiful @StarryEyed! Such a great idea to use old pieces to make new ones. Do you have a favourite?

Thank you, @Rachel_Scope . I had volunteered in the store for about seven years before getting immobile, so I knew how the system worked. But it took me 1-1/2 years before I came up with the idea. A little thick. Lol!

You ask which is my favourite, as in of the four necklaces I posted?

It's impressive that you came up with the idea at all! I'm a big believer in reusing items.

Either from those 4 or any that you've made. I've love to see a picture of course.

Short answer - There are too many reasons to like a piece that I can't pick a favourite.

Long answer - Reasons I like a piece are:

*I was able to fix it and sell it so it was easy

*I was able to clean it and sell it so it was easy

*I like the materials (my favourite materials are wood, glass, silver, resin, natural stones, aluminium, leather and most plastics).

    *I like the colour

    *I like the colour combinations

    *I like the texture

    *I like the form

*I had to be very creative to design/fix the piece

*I was able to design and make the piece quickly

Hi Strawberry 🥰 Your drawing is so fluid and lively and complex. I love it! I can't draw worth beans. Never could. You definitely have the gift!

By saying you'd like to get better, do you mean by taking courses? There are tons of online courses. I learned almost everything about jewellery making through the internet - Google searches, YouTube and Pinterest.

Right, Strawberry, practice makes perfect. It makes it more fun and interesting for me when looking at what others do. For example, here's a free 15-minute flower sketching tutorial...

Rachel, here are the other two necklaces I designed for my Christmas collection....

    1000041193.jpg 1000041192.jpg

It's a six-way tie. I love all of them. Mind you, I wouldn't wear any of them myself, as they're not my style. My personal style doesn't factor into what is meant for others.

    Which is your favourite?

Do you think Scope may be interested in volunteers doing this with their second-hand stores?
