UC REASONABLE ADJUSTMENTS

Has anyone been given reasonable adjustments so that they can migrate to UC. Without going into detail I cannot use a computer and the only option is the phone but not sure if that comes with problems. Please let me know if anyone did a phone application with, or without RA's in place.

    Hi,

    It is perfectly acceptable for you to make a telephone claim for UC.

    Just to make you aware, you will not not have access to an online journal if you make a telephone claim. You will need to phone UC every time you need to make changes, and also accept their phone calls every time they need something from you. But if you can't use a computer then the telephone claim is the only option.

    Are there any other specific Reasonable Adjustments that you would be asking for?

    I did phone claim I prefer it i couldn't handle journel so far so good

    Thanks for your responses, but I am not clear how it works, as I only have ESA Support Group experience where they never needed to contact me. I was allocated UC complex needs, so if anyone has had similar experience please let me know how often updates are required if using the phone, as my circumstances are exactly the same as before.

    When you start the UC claim, they often need to contact you a few times within the first few weeks.

    But they won't need to contact you regularly once everything is set up. You will still be required to contact them if your circumstances do change. And they can contact you for either a bank statement check or a health check at any point. That was exactly the same for ESA, though the bank statement checks happen more often on UC. They are random so none of us know when those will happen.

    Thank you for explaining more. They never ever asked me for a bank statement in the past, as my circumstances remained the same.  I was told that I should be in the UC equivalent of the ESA support group.

    Recently i migrated over to UC in a three-way call with UC and a Housing Support worker and although it was a long call (over two hours) i think it went well. I've now received my first UC payment which is slightly higher than my legacy benefit amount.

    ESA didn't often ask for bank statements, but they were allowed to. UC do a lot more bank statement reviews, so I would say that all of us should expect one from UC eventually.

    Yes, you will be placed in the LCWRA group of UC when migrating from the Support Group of ESA.

    If you don't currently get the Severe Disability Premium, then your total UC amount should be more than your ESA amount, as with the poster above. If you do currently get SDP, then you will get Transitional Protection added to bring the UC amount up to the same as Support Group with SDP. You shouldn't be worse off either way.
