Unless you live in sheltered or supported housing, your Housing Benefit will end & be replaced by Universal Credit Housing Element.

    Did you have a question?

Thank you. Universal Credit will not give this disabled married couple the housing element because they relocated to a safe area due to harrasment. Now they take the state pension and support group ESA as income and have not awarded the housing element

Ah I see what's potentially happening.

Universal Credit works by adding up entitlements (including Housing Element), then making deductions.

It's unfortunately common with mixed age couples for the deductions to exceed entitlement, meaning a zero UC award.

New Style ESA & state pension being treated as income and deducted in full is correct.

Is Housing Element missing from the payment statement?

That would be an error and may lead to some UC entitlement once it's corrected.

(add a Journal note - using the payment option, to highlight the missing Housing Element)

Otherwise you could speak to a local welfare rights organisation to get your UC award checked to be sure it's correct.

If they has remained in the house where they were being harassed then full housing benefit would have remained for ever. I cannot make sense of it. UC has made them worse off.
