Hi. Last week I declared to uc that my son receives high rate dla and did the correct changes. I've not heard anything back only that they are verifying his details is this normal? Is there a expected wait time? Does it automatically get added on to payment or do they inform you. Thank you

Assuming your son is under 16, as it's DLA, you could claim carers element on UC, whether working or not as unlike Carers allowance there is not an earnings limit and Carers allowance is deducted £4£. I don't think there is any guide re waiting times as UC seems to take longer in some areas than others and are not known for being efficient. Plus UC and DWP don't seem to be on speaking terms. Apparently people have said leaving a message under payments often get a quicker response. Hope you get a response soon.

Hi, I have actually notified them when I did it that I wanted to apply for carers element. He is under 16. I suppose it's just a waiting a game! I'll try under payments if I don't get a response in the next week. Thanks so much

You could wait until your next payment statement to see if Disabled Child Element & Carers Element have been added.
