    @Rachel_Scope we have to cats who are moderately playful, but hardly interested in my yarn when knitting. But sometimes we've got the cat from next door visiting and last time - despite him being 16 years old - I had to explain one the main rules of the house: KEEP YOUR PAWS OFF MY YARN. Funny to see him so feisty.

    There was a handwritten note saying #PAISprotest for two months. PAIS meaning Post Acute Infection Syndrome, this includes ME and LC/PC.

    Now I’ve added some knitted flags. Please, tell me honestly what you think, because I am considering knitting a set for a friend for when she goes camping this Spring. However, my lovely partner didn’t quite understand it was flags that I had knitted.

    Yeah, a free little library means that people can swap, borrow, take and/or bring books. Check out the link, there might be one near you, @StarryEyed

    And thanks @Mary_Scope I've indeed decided to knit a set for a friend. By now I've knitted her loads of thick socks she always takes with her when camping. The socks have been all over the world - well, sort of of.

    Ha thanks! Last Autumn my partner went to an outdoor neighborhood party and he met people he had seen before, but had not exactly spoken to. And when he mentioned his street number everyone recognized it as the house with the library. He was so happy to tell me when he got home (as of course I was on the sofa).

    Yesterday I was reading a book I found in there, but - thinking of you - abandoned it after a hundred pages as it wasn't for me. Good thing I am not without books :) But they are expensive, so I am happy with everyone sharing, either through the library outside or friends bringing something with them.

    Almost all my reads are library books @SmellyBin With the amount of books I do not finish, it would be financially unsustainable otherwise. I used to go to a store called Free Books where you could choose up to three books at a time completely free. It was a unit within a shopping centre, run by volunteers and stored donated books. I could spend hours browsing the shelves.

    That's brilliant @photojim! Reminds me of little models my grandad used to make out of scrap metal and screws. They were a lot smaller than that though. That's very cool!

    Or going to the thrift store, @MissMarple Getting a stack of books for a very good price and it having a bit of sports element in it, you know: choosing books a bit more random than when buying in a bookstore whenever I was lucky enough to have a gift certificate.
    You also get that pressure when you've got a certificate for a book store and you're weighing your options over and over again. LOL. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

    I've read on Nextdoor that at the end of next month a 2nd hand bookstore will open a few blocks from where I live, but I think even that is a bit too far away, energy-wise. I sometimes treat myself to a book through Amazon, they also have 2nd hand books. That is why I purchased myself to Rubbernecker.

    The village where my parents lived in France had a free library box, @SmellyBin , very like yours & another village not far from them, had an old Brit red telephone box that was made into one. 😎

    I only read in bed & I can't hold a book anymore, but was bought a Kindle which is perfect. I rarely buy a book for it, unless you call choosing only the freebies buying. 😉

    Have you tried audiobooks @JessieJ ? My library has Borrowbox, a free app through which I regularly listen to books. I can hold a physical copy, but keeping my eyes open can be a challenge at times. There are some brilliant narrators that make listening to a book a real treat.

    Indeed, there are lots of wonderful free libraries out there, I sometimes watch images of those online just for the fun of it, @JessieJ

    And I am sorry reading is physically hard for you, good thing you've got a Kindle and you are right about the free books online. Joffe newsletter has a free book every week (one for romance and one for thrillers) and I read books through Netgalley in exchange for a review.

    Do you read e-books from the library, @MissMarple Our library isn't compatible with the Kindle.

    And I've just tried to look into that 2nd hand bookstore and found out it is a charity shop. I don't think I can manage to get there if my partner 'wheels' me there, but who knows… it would be awesome (not getting my hopes up, but wouldn't it be lovely).
