LCWRA payment

Hello all,

I hope you are all well.

I started my UC Claim on 8th October 2025. I submitted my sick note on 23rd October 2025 which covered 2 months, and I submitted my 2nd sick note in December, just before my second sick note was going to expire. The second sick note was up until early February.

I had my LCWRA assessment on 21/01/26 and received an outcome on 27/01/2026 saying that I am entitled.

I receive my payment as a single adult over 25 of £400.14 every 14th of the month. My assessment period for payments are monitored from 8th - 7th (I.e. 8th Jan to 7th Feb). I checked my statement and it only says I will receive £400.14 on 14th Feb.

Can someone explain to me when I can expect to see additional payments for LCWRA come through? I am aware of the 3months assessment period, but maybe I’m missing something with the calculation of this? I did leave a message on my journal to clarify this, but I’m not sure I will get a response - as I normally don’t based on asking questions before.

Many thanks.

    Hi,

The first fit note was submitted too late to include the first AP.

    So your waiting AP's are:

    Nov 8 - Dec 7
    Dec 8 - Jan 7
    Jan 8 - Feb 7

LCWRA should be included on the next AP, Feb 8 - Mar 7, and paid on March 14th.

thank you for clarifying this for me. Can I also ask, will the next pay include back pay? Is that how it is usually done?

LCWRA element has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added into payment.

No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

Any backpay is calculated separately and usually takes several weeks at least.

However in your case as OverlyAnxious has shown, no backpay is due.

so when I started my claim on 8th October, I didn’t have my first commitments meeting until October 21st, where I declared I cannot work and was then told to go get a fit note.

What is the reason I would not receive backpay? Thank you everyone for your help, it’s really helping me to understand this.

LCWRA element has a waiting period of three full assessment periods before LCWRA is added to your payment.

Payment for LCWRA starts in your fourth full assessment period.

That's how LCWRA element has been designed to work. No payment until the 4th assessment period.

so does that mean when I do receive LCWRA in March (the first assessment in the 4th assessment period) I will receive my LCWRA alongside 3 months of backpay which covered my waiting period during the time I was waiting for assessment and submitted fit notes.

No, as I've explained no money is paid or subsequently owed for the waiting period.

No money is due for LCWRA element on your claim until your Feb-Mar AP, paid 14th March. On the 14th March, you will receive an extra £423.27.

There is no backpay due in your case because the WCA process completed within 3 full assessment periods.
