Concerned for current claimants and future claimants when they have another assessment
This bill should still be scrapped. Im due another assessment in 2029 as my current award runs out in 2030. Also my conditions have worsened but im to afraid to report this to the dwp as I will have to be re assessed meaning I could lose my claim and receive a new one later down the line which could mean still having my mobility support cut or worse lose it altogether. Even tho my conditions are permanent neither pip or eesa or Universal credit state it as so. Only industrial injuries disablement benefit have recognised my injuries as permanent. This is not fair on anyone disabled now or in the future. They need to stop cutting from the poorest most vulnerable in this country and get money elsewhere. Stop paying illegal migrants benefits for starters or tax the billionaires. If I were to have my benefits cut or worse stopped it will make me homeless in extreme poverty and could push me to end my life because I cannot live like that. Its disgusting that this labour government have targeted all the vulnerable. I said to my elderly mother of 89yrs young that you wait the disabled will be next and here we are. This is inexcusable from labour. When there's a general election I will if im still here without doubt vote them out. Enough is enough!

Hi @poolelass75 - we're all concerned about the proposed changes, & I'd think we would all like to see the bill scrapped, & the Gov't to have proper consultation with disabled people & the charities that support them.
An interesting read about so called 'illegal migrants'
We may hear more later after the 2nd reading of the Bill on Tues.

I would only report the change if its obvious it will affect entitlement. As an example if you already on LCWRA and your condition has got worse, there is little point in reporting it as you already on the top level of support.

I also am worried about re assessments. One of the guests on a tv morning news show said face to face appointments should be given rather than telephone appointments as it's too easy for assessors to award the benefit when they can't see us. WRONG!I've been turned down 3 times and only once was a face to face. Not sure what others think but I feel that the assessments for most of us should be scrapped. We have life long conditions that for most, will only get harder to manage as we age. To keep being asked the same questions over and over and in a lot of cases not believed is degrading. With a lot of our conditions if we were entitled to PIP on the first time of claiming we will always be entitled.
Banging on about us getting back is so annoying as well. Some of us do work already, I unfortunatly am not one of you, although I'd love to be. Bookkeepping and accounts use to be my thing until the daily siezures got in the way.
I know DWP, give me a job in your accounts department and watch how many mistakes I make after having a seizure and then tell me I can work when your accounts are in a right state!
With everybody's input we have been able to change the governments mind on the welfare bill. I don't know if that includes scrapping the assessments.
If not, how about we all campainge for that to be changed now too?

"Stop paying illegal migrants benefits".
This is straight out of Reform territory.
If you're concerned about how the law is in this country then you should lobby your MP for this and get the law changed so (illegal) migrants don't get any money or accommodation and die a slow death.
Of course, it's a different story on how some people became migrants ….

absolutely agree.. this is the real reason they come to UK.. if a migrant is in Germany or POland.. he is as safe as in UK. often more safe. HOwever, they all want to be in the UK

"they all want to be in the UK"
Who are "they all"? It's a genuine question, i'm not white Caucasian so i'd like to know who you consider to be "they".
In my opinion, many migrants who come to the UK are escaping persecution or war, some of it because of UK foreign policy. Yes, there are some who are not genuine but we can't brush everyone with the same brush.
I didn't hear this rhetoric when the UK offered homes and benefits to Ukrainians escaping war. What is the difference between them and some of the other migrants doing the same?

The politics of divide and conquer makes me sad:(
Targeting migrants leads to shortages of carers and so you, and everyone else short sighted enough to blame them for lack of other services, are shooting yourselves in the foot. Blame the austerity we had imposed on us by rich Tories who are going to play a huge part in running the country again by defecting to Reform instead if people fall for that strategy and you are far closer to the truth.
Labour aren't perfect but they are the lesser evil.
