Is Scope Disability Friendly anymore?

Thank you for the observation. My intention was simply to acknowledge the substance of the point being made within the wider discussion.
The central issue for me remains how different communication styles influence the tone and safety of a thread, and how that is managed from a moderation perspective.
Clear guidance on this would help ensure consistency and support a constructive environment for everyone.

We all have different communication styles, or put another way, we have different communication limitations, and different communication alternatives to work around our lifelong communication limitations.
Currently here in the UK these issues are not explained in great detail by the so called medical, and health professionals who should be trained and qualified to explain these issues, and explain the types of support and understanding some may require.
I have Auditory Processing Disorder the listening disability which is the underlying cognitive cause of my dyslexia symptom, and my problem of remembering the right words to use when trying to explain a topic (there are many other issues as well). Auditory Processing Disorder can be one of the multiple issues which can combine as part of an individuals Autism. I have a a Facebook Auditory Processing Disorder support group and one of the members is autistic and sometimes her comments are considered by other members as being rude, but it is her way of communicating her feelings.
So we need to understand the different communication options each individual may have and their possible communication limitations.

Thank you for sharing your experience and for highlighting how communication differences and limitations can shape the way people express themselves. My earlier point was about how a community balances that understanding with the need to maintain a constructive and safe environment for all members.
Recognising that people communicate differently is essential, but many of the experiences raised in this thread relate not only to communication style but also to patterns of behaviour and the impact those behaviours can have on others, particularly when discussions become sensitive or safeguarding considerations arise.
Ultimately, that balance is something moderation is best placed to guide. Clear guidance on how communication differences and behavioural impact are taken into account when considering the tone or safety of a thread would help ensure that members with different communication needs feel understood, while also supporting a respectful, inclusive, and supportive space for everyone.

I have been is a similar situation most of my life, until I found out about Auditory Processing Disorder, which is the cause of both my dyslexia and my specific language impairment, and in my 20s I was diagnosed as having a Personality Disorder, which is really a symptom of my lifelong Auditory Processing Disorder. Back in the 1970s UK medical professionals did not know about Auditory Processing Disorder, which international research and technology has explained over the last few decades.
I did not know until my early 50s that i had become a visual spatial learner from birth to work around my lifelong auditory limitations. I think in pictures, diagrams, charts, and practical demonstrations, and I have real problems with verbal instructions, which I tend to fail to understand.
When it come to using text I have an computer word processer which I use to type and spell check my no text based information. so that for me each new sentence start on a new line, and I also alternate the font colour between green and blue between the sentences. I find this helps me read research papers, as i can also put new to me words and terminology in a red font colour so that i an look the word up and then type in an online explanation.
Most of my local community have no understanding of my lifelong communication limitations and many can become rude and nasty, which is why I tend to be house bound the avoid any disability discrimination.

Hi Catherine21
There are three possible causes of the dyslexia symptom :- Auditory Processing Disorder, and or Visual Processing Disorder, and or Attention Deficit Disorder.
The initial key research papers are :-
Cognitive subtypes of dyslexia are characterized by distinct patterns of grey matter volume 2013
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4147248/
And the key research papers for me were
Unstable Representation of Sound: A Biological Marker of Dyslexia 2013

and
For Reading Development, Auditory Processing Is Fundamental

Thanks for treating each other with respect here, that's lovely to see. This seems to have come from chatting about communication differences which is still relevant to what was being discussed in some ways. It's great to see you sharing experiences with each other and copying over some information that might help others understand.
That said, I think everyone's recognised we are at risk of getting a little off topic now, so it would be good to get back to the main theme of this discussion again from now on.
Thanks for all that you've shared so far, it's been good to read through everyone's thoughts and experiences.

I rarely come here anymore, As many know this is my third time here over 4 years or so.
Other than my rapidly significantly declining health the other main reason is what some others have posted here already. I
in my opinion and it is just my opinion (although a few past searches do verify it) a tiny handful seem to pounce on another tiny handful consistently in what appears as intentional aims of getting their threads closed by turning up in them no matter what the subject and posting a sarcastic or pointless response or an emoji, that will almost certainly set off a reaction either by the thread starter, the admin or both.
It can't be a coincidence it's certainly not paranoia on their part either because none of these remarks are aimed at me I simply observe them regularly and can definitely see what they are saying.
It's also a good point how written word can at times come across wrong, but that only applies without a consistent pattern.

I always feel disappointed when a thread that I've been participating in gets closed as I'd like to continue to post in it, but I understand why it needs to be done.

Not shocked at all people believe Scope is toxic. The entire internet in general is toxic thanks to the far right, tech bros, bots etc.
To build a real community, in person support is the only way. People are less likely to be bigoted **** if they have to tell it to your face, and not behind a screen.

Sorry to hear about your health nightcity im sending much love

Part of my own problem is that I tend to tell it like it is, at least as I see it, which more often than not goes down like the flippin' Titanic with various people, particularly online.
Hence I tend to rub the Mods up the wrong way because they have to step in to defuse arguments.

Are we not just saying that only certain people have the right to answer on here and some people with a different opinion shouldn't have an opinion at all?.
3 -
Nope.
It's just that some people like to "Gate Keep", ie pretend theirs is the only correct opinion.
