Protected characteristic
Does anyone have it in writing or know where to find that Cerebral Palsy is a protected characteristic in terms of employment/equality act?

Hi @Katie21 this is covered within the Disability Equality Act 2010. If this is for a specific situation, I'd suggest getting some advice from a legal professional who specialises in disabilities and employment.

interesting how in the Equality Act only mentions CP in the context of children 👀

Yeah because for some unknown reason, the government thinks disabilities only happen in kids?!

They really do lack education don’t they?

Hi @Katie21
I'm Sara one of the CP specialists at Scope. I'm part of the CP Network.
In our roles we are working to change perceptions around the fact, that CP is still considered a childhood disability.
We have spoken to professionals in medical and education settings. Raising awareness that adults with cerebral palsy will continue to need support, after paediatric care comes to an end at the age of 16.
We have a CP Network which you are welcome to join, if you're not already a member. Here is the link.

Hey @SaraC_Scope
I’d love to be part of the community but I don’t want to put my address on the form, so can’t join.
ThanksKatie

Hi @Katie21
We host monthly zoom meetings, usually the third Wednesday of each month. As a member of the network you will receive a regular newsletter and updates.
We advertise our meetings a week before with the link to attend included. We then send a reminder with the Zoom link again, the night before we meet.
In June Richard Luke is hosting a men's only meeting, so the next National Cerebral Palsy Network meeting is in July.
If you have any further questions, please get in touch.
Thanks.
