Mental health isn’t always visible so it’s not really about telling, it’s about listening, and believing peoples experiences and not comparing or ranking suffering. Everyone deserves respect and support.

As with most subtleties and conditions in mental health Catherine21, it's the case that many of us sometimes display symptoms similar to the symptoms of ADHD.
However, much like occasionally forgetting things doesn't mean one has dementia, and preferring a clean bathroom doesn't mean one has OCD, those occasional symptoms are not ADHD, nor "a little bit" of it.
ADHD is a different form of experience altogether. You may know that, although if you've always had it you'll have a similar bias in your experience. That's just the nature of human experience, it guides us whether we like it or not.
It's just lazy English to suggest that those occasional symptoms are even similar to having the conditions above. A misunderstanding of psychology and people.
Many people find it very difficult to accurately imagine the experience of other people. Because we are all so heavily influenced by our own experiences and opinions etc it's only through guided study and talking to people with these conditions that we can hope to imagine what it's like to have them. No matter how good we get at that, it's still just our imagination and we may well be wrong.
I'm not fan of religion, but one of the greatest lessons that taught me as a child was "Judge not, lest ye be judged".
Please try not to allow the opinions of people who don't understand what they're talking/writing about to upset you. They don't know what they're on about!
Former partners and people I've taught/advocated on behalf of have found breathing exercises and exploring approaches to meditation helpful in calming anxiety. There are many, many different ways of doing that.
Trying to work out the specific cues to your anxiety and perhaps avoiding or finding other ways of managing those things may help too.
Help is often available.
Good luck

I still have mild issues when lying down like a vibrating phone through the hands and legs but I've learnt not to react to it and know it'll eventually stop, during daytime and movement I don't have much trouble now occasionally lose balance.
I hope you feel calmer soon yourself as I know how horrible it all is.

If you looked at me you would think I was perfectly okay but that's what happens with invisible illnesses. You can't tell by looking at me that I have mental health issues or Fibromyalgia or ME or PoTS to name a few. You can't do a blood test or anything like that, it's an elimination of everything else for most of them. However, medical staff listen to the symptoms and can see some of them. I am not faking it, they are most certainly real.
I was getting upset reading comments on here or Facebook etc so I stopped reading them as much as possible but it is still distressing a lot of the time knowing what some people think. I am still waiting for my PIP tribunal (2nd time round) and have been asked before why I haven't killed myself yet! Having mental health issues is hard so please all cut yourselves some slack you're all amazing in coping with it and reaching out. Having invisible incurable untreatable illnesses are also really hard.
Take it easy and be good to yourselves xx

@SwiftFox by the end of the Japanese garden audio, I was grounded and moving. Thank you for peeling me off the ceiling 🙏🏼😊
@Rachel_Scope I posted that pool pic as a milestone for me as I have just realised that even my closest friends and family can't understand most of who I am - not just with regards to disability. And I'm okay with that now. I have a brother who gets me and we have an amazing connection and easy communication. I've decided one person is enough, and I feel fortunate to have him.
@Littlefatfriend it's so true, that we are all trapped in our own experiences because we're all biologically distinct at birth each and every one of us, as we each have unique DNA in each cell. And we all have unique experiences. Only identical twins have the same DNA, but they have different experiences, so they too are unique. So we're all limited in understanding eachother because of this, really living in our own world, and looking out at the world through our unique algorithm. So when I try to explain my perspective or my experience, I know that nobody will ever really understand me. We can relate to each other, and I think that is the best that any of us can do, always bearing in mind that we will never understand each other completely. And that's okay.

I agree its ok not to understand people i dont understand myself at times but dismissing or belittling peoples struggles is not ok especially on a disabled forum

@Nightcity I'm sorry you're suffering so much. So very sorry. I too have neurological problems, some of which are caused by psychological problems. I'm not saying we're the same, just that I might relate. I hope you and your healthcare team can get to the bottom of things as to the cause, then the treatment.
The Bee Gees song "Words" comes to mind now for this thread. Musical Intermission for those who want one ... 😊

Taken aback. Thank you for your apology.
Do you realise you post this topic about being misunderstood and mistreated on the forum about every few weeks? And a lot of the replies are typically the same - that it's not nice and that it's just a few members. Seeing you stuck in this. So I'm just adding my bit that we're all misunderstood here on the forum and IRL.
Put it this way: Do you know the illnesses of everyone on the forum? If you do, have you researched all of these illnesses? If you have, have you talked to everyone on the forum about all their illnesses to understand their experience with all their illnesses? It's not possible and it's not necessary to do this.
Bottom line: You're not alone in being misunderstood. If anything, being misunderstood might even be one of the things that unites all people. Just maybe.
