Green Power Mobility Scooter - Avoid at all costs! Terrible Experience

This is a message to fellow mobility scooter drivers. I am posting this message to hopefully save you some hassle. Please learn from my experience.

I bought a Green Power ZT500 scooter online last year and had so many problems. I chose this mobility scooter because it seemed good value - it has all the specs of much more expensive scooters but for half the price. (I paid around £1,000). I read online reviews and facebook posts on groups about Green Power and Veleco but decided to go ahead anyway despite their bad reputation. I can't speak for Veleco because I bought the Green Power but I have read several accounts with other people having problems from them too.

Within a month the batteries had totally dropped off. I was getting about 5 miles before needing to recharge but it should get over 30 miles - apparently! There was also a humming noise coming from underneath. I called Green Power and am still waiting for them to sort it out after several weeks.

The scooter is also falling to bits! The seat stitching has come loose, front light has stopped working and the rear tyres are balding already. I've done approx 100 miles total since purchase.

My local mobility shop won't touch Green Power so I'm relying on Green Power to sort it out. Their call out times are weeks and weeks, and their prices are so high for parts. Really wish I had bought a proper make and model at the start.

Please listen to my advice and avoid! They look great and are cheap but you get what you pay for. Save yourself the hassle and save up for something decent.

Has anybody else had a similar experience with a mobility scooter they bought from Green Power? I hope I'm in the minority but seems to be common issues with other people I speak to.

Whilst the company and their customer service dept seem very poor (according to what i've read), I bought a 3 year old GP500 in 2021 with only 234KM on the clock, it was in almost new condition except the batteries were melted into one massive mess where it had been left on charge and out of use for a very long time. The lady i bought it from said she stopped using it as it was too fast…….I bought a set of 5 upgraded 22AH batteries from Battery Trader and off i went. I use the scooter almost entirely off road in the forest to walk my dogs, and it has taken a heck of a beating over the last 4 1/2 years, covering 8800KM's. I had to change the drive tyres for off road style tyres as i was struggling to climb a steep hill of deep loose sand. I also upgraded the headlamp bulb to LED, and replaced the mirrors with aftermarket chrome ones. The scooter has been very reliable over this time, and in fact still works great, i have replaced the batteries again at 5500kms, and had ongoing issues with brakes squeaking intermittantly, also most of the switches have failed over time due to being caught in the rain many times, I can't reverse, i daren't turn the lights off, and the 4mph / 7kmh limiter stopped working, it goes up to 27kmh all the time now. Overall considering the use it's had, I have been very happy with my GP500, soo much so i just bought a nearly new ZT500. I just hope it lasts as well.
