Sometimes I'll think about the fact that liminal spaces and The Backrooms seem to be things that are mainly enjoyed by teenagers and 20 somethings, and I'll think I wonder what they would think of a 50 year old like me being into this stuff? Feels kind of strange, almost like I'm not supposed to be into it.
Not that I'm saying it's childish, but more like it's as though it 'belongs' to a much younger generation?
I am very young for my age, so maybe this is why I so easily got into it all?

There is a type of scary movies that I like, which is a pleasant scared, so to speak. I call them boo scary. So they're just playful. They exclude two elements, which I avoid in all types of movies but are typical in most horror movies:
1. Torture or any extreme suffering.
2. Cruelty of any kind - to anyone or anything.
Unfortunately these are not part of any movie review assessments. So I'm often caught off guard: Case in point is Hamnet. ****?? I do not consider suffering entertainment..
So what about you guys seeing the movie bearing that in mind. If it passes the mustard, then I'll see it. Could we do that? ๐๐ผ๐

I had to look Hamnet up. I couldn't cope with a child dying, that's too much. I really struggle with animals getting hurt, more so than people! I think that's a great idea. We'll vet it for you and let you know ๐

Just catching up with all of the pictures (I must admit this is my favourite discussion!). Hospitals are very liminal @Catherine21. I had a CT scan which is in a big donut-looking machine and going into the room I got very liminal vibes.
Love your additions @poyoguy123! I'd love to see more.
@Ross1975 and @StarryEyed, amazing pictures as always. I was thinking about the film Toys yesterday and realised that's very liminal. Here are some pictures.

The third picture is my favourite, Rachel, it's what some people would class as 'dreamcore' which is a liminal spaces offshoot.
Here's a video all about it.

Ooh I've had a quick scan through and I love it! I'll definitely be watching that properly later. I saw that it mentioned Spirited Away which is one of my favourite films and I'm intrigued to know how that fits into dreamcore.
This picture is from the Colour Factory in Chicago. I'd definitely feel unsettled here.

Nice, @Ross1975 The proportions have me dumbfounded as to what it is. ๐๐ผ

Hey StarryEyed, to me it looks like some kind of tunnel slide/water slide.
Great cinema pic that you've uploaded btw, it reminds of this liminal space image which I think could be a cinema too.

Hey @Ross1975 and thanks! Yes, definitely yours could be a cinema too. Ah, yes a waterslide!
Remember we were talking about mushroom decorations at Christmas? Well I'm looking at liminal spaces with mushrooms and found two that I really like....

The more I look at your last one, the more insane it looks ๐๐
1 -
Yes! I remember the Chrimbo mushrooms. ๐
There's The Backrooms, The Poolrooms, The Monorooms, etc, how about The 'Mush'rooms?
1 -
OMG @Ross1975 those are both brilliant and gorgeous, and the name is spot on The 'Mush'rooms. Love it!!! Did you design these with AI?
0 -
Yes, I had to try a few different Ai's and several attempts to come up with these two pictures that I really liked.
I find something about the roots or whatever they are on the walls in the second picture just makes it really creepy for some reason.
