Hello everybody I was thinking of plastic flowers this year, what do you all think?
0 -
Not sure what to think, but i bet the insects won't be impressed. 🐝🌺🕷️

Not my cup of tea but it's your garden you do what's right for you there are some realistic ones about now

Hello @michael57
I did think about the bees and how confused they would be, I do have real flowers in also. Mainly to brighten areas up that don't do so well, I thought it might be an option.

even with all our flowers i still put a shallow saucer of sugar water out for the bees they soon learn where the best smells are

I would not think about bamboo unless it is a none evasive type the root system goes a long way and a right devil to get rid of i have seen barriers of bamboo in large pots that looked nice

I did go to the garden centre for the first time this year on the weekend! It was very nice to see all the lovely bright and fresh plants and flowers. I left with an aloe vera plant but hoping to go back soon and pick up some proper flower plants for the garden🌺

@michael57 … is that a Lithodora Heavenly Blue ? Very healthy … mine is looking very threadbare, hoping a chelsea chop replenishes it

For any garden bird feeders RSPB have asked people don't feed the birds between May and October - Our latest guidance on what and when to feed garden birds: Feed Safely, Feed Seasonally
This made me a bit sad because I feed quite a lot of birds, so I'm a bit worried about the effect of not feeding them but I'm sure I'm being silly and they'll be ok.

It does say that on there to be fair @Santosha12 so I could pop a little out for them still. I think I'm just over worrying about them as they get through a lot.

You will end up introducing bacteria and viruses in the feeders as the food heats up thus poisoning them with kindness plenty of food in the garden

Mind me asking if your soil is acidic ? I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to grow some in pots with ericaceous compost, despite digging in some to the soil, mine is looking quite sorry. But the dog does step on it a lot so could be that

It's in just well composted soil same as the rest of our plants I would be tempted to put a few handfuls of ericaceous compost around it bit of low nitrogen fertilizer and water it in so to fool the plant first

@michael57 … thanks, I'll try that, but it's more far gone than I thought

Some healthier looking pics … excuse the TEMU flowers … not my idea

I would suggest raising the plant in the tub its way to low for a low plant mix in plenty of sharp sand and grit as in planters the soil can get sodden over winter
