DWP changed my address to "private and confidential"
So I got an email from my council asking me if I still lived here as they say the info the DWP shares with them has changed and now my address is listed as "private and confidential".
Google AI says this is done during fraud investigations. Its not clear if that is true I havent been able to confirm it
Now I am due to attend a hearing next week, its the second part of the hearing and initially the judge told the DWP to recalculate my benefits and to disregard the cost of living payments. The DWP paid out on this in Oct, but didnt provide the workings out for months and when they did neither I or the CAB could make sense of it. Ive been reluctant to withdraw the appeal until the DWP admit they should have disregarded the cost of living payments, but they havent issued the relevant form ( LT203c ) to say they are not challenging further (but they have paid).
Anyway as I say thats next week… Im hoping to cancel if I can get clarification from CAB.
The month after they paid the back payment, they started making the same mistake again. I asked for a mandatory reconsideration and Im still waiting (Oct). Two weeks ago they paid me six months of UC that they had had some sort of freeze on (they didnt deduct the COLPs though).
So when Google AI said fraud investigation I started wondering what they are up to. Ive had a hell of a time over last few weeks with my banks randomly declining payments (Ive got phone phobia so its hard to find out whats going on. But the conversations I have had on the online chats have been really weird loops of nonsense. So could they have said something to my banks that caused increased security on my accounts?
That said I had some weird phone calls and emails over last few days too, internet links number to scams. Nothing on my accounts looks suspicious to me. Ive frozen my cards to try to be safe- but its all quite stressful.
I am getting a bit paranoid maybe, but it is weird right?

Hi @Slonvinton, sorry for the wait on this post appearing on the community, it was caught in our filter for a little while this morning. Nothing you've done wrong at all, just the filter being sensitive about some key words.
Google's AI can be a useful starting point but it's not always totally correct about things, especially when it comes to benefits. Did it show you where the information came from about this being related to fraud investigations? Sometimes it'll offer a link to where they drew the information from and it can be good to check it over.
That sounds really frustrating about the declined payments. I find my bank's online chats are a bit rubbish too unfortunately, but I wouldn't think DWP had the power to affect your accounts like that or make it difficult to clear payments. If you haven't noticed any suspicious activity, that's a good sign too.
Hope you can get some clarification from CAB soon. Have you already contacted them or is this something you're hoping to do soon?

Ive only really noticed payments being declined when Im trying to buy stuff, but crucially those payments attempts are not visible on my transactions/statements when I look online- so if anything else has happened on my account I probably wouldnt see that either. So all I can really say is that they havent let anything through that isnt me (and have blocked stuff that is).
There were no references/clues where goggle ai got the stuff about an "investigation" being a potential reason for the address change. Ive been trying to find out if its true myself but cant find anything on it at all.
Im not sure if the CAB are going to respond in time; I asked them to help over a month ago.0 -
Phone the DWP tomorrow, and find out what's happened!
