Universal credit
HI, new member I have a universal credit question. I had a previous uc account 15 months ago, I have found my self in a situation where I need to make a new single claim. It says on Govt website if an old account is 6 months or younger you can start a new claim with this account but if its older you have to start a new claim I might sound abit thick but does that mean I have to have a new username and password.
until recently I've never had to claim benefits I don't know if I'm doing right or wrong.
thanks.

Hi,
Yes, you will need to start a brand new claim now.
I don't know how quickly usernames get deleted for the online login. You can try your old login to see whether it still works at all. If not, then just start the new claim with the same username and password if that's what you would prefer.

Wouldn't it be better to make a new account and not use the old information if your situation has changed? I am thinking if there were issues then it might be you that is liable for any loss because you were still using a shared account?
