Motability Foundation
Hello Everyone
I would like to find out how people have been finding the experience with Motability Foundation (grants team)?
I have had an awful personal experience and wondering how many of us are out there who feel like the team have not listened to their concerns and feel treated unfairly?
I am in the process of gathering information right now, just to see how many people are really finding it difficult to deal with them. My issue personally is how they like to impose vehicles which may be unsuitable for your needs without taking your personal health and safety into question. They also don't seem to care about financial circumstances of applicants and overlook those who are in desperate need for support.
I am hoping to shed some light on this as they are working with the most vulnerable people but empathy and care are non existent. I am worried they are mistreating many people and no one is really shedding light on it.

Morning @longaz and welcome to the community.
I'm sorry you're having issues with the Motability Foundation. Have you raised a complaint with them directly? They should have their customer's needs at the forefront of any decisions they make so it's saddening to hear that you haven't experienced this.

I had a similar experience. They ignored my needs and wouldn’t listen, even with clear evidence. Once they decide which vehicles they’ll support, any challenge is met with hostility. For a charity serving disabled people, refusing reasonable adjustments is unacceptable and amounts to indirect discrimination.

I raised a complaint and escalated it. I even contacted the CEO and he blocked me. They are making a lot of profits year on year but do not wish to help anyone. I am reporting them to the charity commission.

I had a very poor experience with the motability foundation grants team. They rejected my application due to costs, I asked for a review, and I was then awarded a grant, five vehicles listed on my award letter, which was fine, I also received a grant for a hoist to be fitted in the boot of listed vehicles to help with putting my wheelchair in and out of the listed vehicles, only issue, the vehicles list do not have the room for the installation of a hoist. My impression is that the case managers do not have the experience or the knowledge to deal with complex disabilities or health issues. The lack of “common sense “ approach is very evident, to many guidelines that they apply to decision making, disability cannot be ruled by guidelines. The whole grants decision making process should be reviewed by people who are disabled, not someone with a University degree, with very limited knowledge of the real world.

I’m feeling so anxious with them and struggling to sleep. Just awful. About to give up. Apparently it doesn’t matter if the one vehicle they want you to have causes you physical pain as ‘comfort is subjective’. And yes my case worker knows far less than I have learnt myself from researching the vehicles available. Dreadful experience.

Hi all,
I'm returning to Motability after 16 years of using my own vehicle, my conditions have got worse and I need. a low boot entry for my walker and something that has 360 degree cameras, I have limited use of my left had so require a gear selector that is easy to use with either my balled up fist or flat hand.
I started driving in 1984, and unlike George Orwell's predictions it was a simpler time the government weren't watching your every move, like now, even your car spies on you, which brings me neatly to ADAS, driving systems that beep at you try and force you back to the left if you go over the white line on a narrow country road.
I really want and I think also need all of the features in the MG ZS, the Trophy spec is £699 advance payment, they told me to take a test drive in the BYD Sealion, you know BYD the company that have had more EV fires than any other, on car forums they hav e earned the moniker, Burn Your Driveway, so I went to test it and for the spec with the 360 cam it was £1249, after that the salesbod says we also have a Kia branch down the road, the Sportage was £3499!
So, how many more test drives am I going to have to go on, bearing in mind you can't find all the relevant specs on a website? I have been trawling YouTube to find reviews but most of the reviewers don't seem to mind that you have to push a button on the gear lever with your left hand, funny that? Oh, and for the princely sum of £3499, do you get a 360 camera,no you get a little dial you have to turn to select your gear.
So, the car I need has all my requirements for £699
