    😉 I can't even keep hold of a pair of earrings so I gave up jewellery!

    The contract on my Samsung Smart Watch is due to be paid off towards the end of next April, however as it's not fit for purpose I've asked my Brother to try and speak to O2 to get a refund on it seeing as he currently pays for my account.

    I used to have a Watch with a built in Calculator, but I used to get told off for using it in Maths at school lol.

    Apple watches are awesome. I loved mine before I had low vision. Definitely worth the investment and if you go to places like cex or eBay you can get a great price on nearly new

    My experience with smartwatches was disappointing. It turns out you're paying for a device that spies on you, pretends to be a medical device, and accuses you of being lazy! Furthermore, they're useless without a smartphone and drain the battery quickly.
    I'm waiting for "simple" smartwatches that can tell the time and weather forecast, with a large AMOLED screen and high-quality PC software so I can design my own watch faces.

    When I was at school we were frequently told "you won't have a calculator everywhere you go".

    Obviously that turned out to be wrong, seeing as even the most basic mobile phones have a calculator on them. But I didn't realise calculator watches were so common back in the 70's!

    Because I know the coding and system for it, It has a permanent microphone listening to you at all times and selling that information to advertising companies. It also tracks your location and other information when you have it active. Basically I'm not stupid enough to use one nor will I happily give over my data to any corporation.

    my son bought an Apple Watch from Amazon recently. The delivery arrived and he was quite excited. So he quickly ripped open the packaging only to find to his horror a single bourbon biscuit. He was fuming as you can probably imagine. So he rang Amazon to report this and they asked him did he take a photo before he took the packaging off. They said they couldn’t do anything until he obtained a crime reference from the police. I googled the problem and was amazed to find this wasn’t a one off. Long story short. We managed to get a refund from Amazon but I think people should be aware and to be careful

    That's awful @westpest, thank you for sharing. I'm glad he managed to get a refund from Amazon, as I was reading I thought it would end differently. Did he eventually get an Apple Watch?

    This is nothing new. It just needs to be something of the same weight so the seller gets proof of dispatch from the courier. A few years ago people were putting bricks in Xbox/Playstation boxes for the same reason. And it's been happening with smartphones for years as well. While I'm all for a bargain, when it comes to something valuable from a major brand, it's often safest just to pay a bit extra to buy directly from them now.

    I'm interested that you're into traditional watches despite being a techy person. I'm kind of similar, not at your level r.e. tech ability but always keen to use it if it is of benefit, but when it's there for the sake of it I'm not a fan. Cars are a good example with companies replacing integral parts of the car (mirrors, speedometer, controls) with gizmos which are clever but of questionable benefit, seemingly just to impress customers, when the traditional equipment arguably did the job better or at least without ever going wrong

    I remember a couple of years ago, I ordered something on Amazon, and I ended up receiving a boxful of Vapes! As someone who is strongly opposed to smoking in ALL its forms, I was considerably offended.

    At least many electronic devices in cars increase safety, which is impossible in other ways. Smartwatches, however, keep the same time as regular ones, haha!
