UC now my daughter is 18 and leaving full time education

I receive UC for my daughter, she turned 18 in Feb as this year and took her last exam today. Does this mean UC ends immediately and I have to contact UC?
She receives PIP high for care and mobility and is unable to access work, especially without full support and the fact she does not leave the house without me.
From today do I make a new claim for UC in her name (i am her appointee with DWP).
I do work and really worried now she is coming out of education how this is going affect us as I will need to be financially responsible for her. We currently use a lot of her PIP award to pay for someone just be 'be here at home' for when I'm not and do need a break. I am even worried about council tax as a single mum with her being out of education I will lose the single person discount

Hi @nicCol, welcome to the community. That sounds like a really worrying time, I hope you're doing okay so far.

Usually, the entitlement ends at the official end date of your daughter's course as this is the date she will be marked as having left education. As you say, you will need to let them know when your daughter's course has ended, and you can start her application for UC.

Have you ever had any support with your benefits from a professional?

It may be worth speaking to a local benefits adviser to help you with the transition period out of education. They'll be able to look at both your circumstances and make sure you're claiming all you're eligible for. Hopefully that'll mean that things feel a little easier for you too as you won't have to deal with it all alone. If that's something you'd like to do, you can search for a local adviser using this tool: https://advicefinder.turn2us.org.uk/
