Beat the heat - Tips on staying cool

Me too @Ross1975! I quite like the white noise from it too.
I've got a continuous spray bottle that I usually use for my hair. It sprays out a nice fine mist and I've found if I give myself a good spritz while in front of the fan, that can give an extra little cooling boost as it evaporates. Recommend that one!

I think I'll buy a big water melon the next time I go shopping. Being how hot it is the idea of eating some ice cold watermelon right now is very appealing. I could put it in the fridge, once it's as cold as it will get I could cut off some slices and put them in a dish/on a plate in the freezer for maybe around 10 mins before eating them. 😋

You have to open two windows to create an air flow, it's a scientific fact. Check it out next you read anything scientific.

Not true. Houses aren’t airtight vacuum flasks, air constantly cycles through door gaps, extraction vents, and building seams.
If it's windy outside, opening just one window is more than enough to force air through the house. Opening two windows when it's boiling hot outside just accelerates how fast you turn your home into an oven.

You mean like the vent in the room with the coal fire, that worked in conjunction with the chimney to draw the fire? We have known about it for centuries.

Thanks matey, but I already know how to keep myself cool so I don't need to read it.
Have you made sure that you've been drinking plenty of fluids? As it's been very hot these last several days.

I also struggle during hot spells. Currently with 2 large pedestal fans and my portable aircon unit on max the temp inside my living room is 33.7 degrees. Without my aircon unit it would be somewhere north of 36 degrees. My Meaco portable aircon unit purchased from Amazon 2/3 years ago has literally been a life saver for me and as best as i can figure out its costing somewhere in the region of 25p to 30p per hour to run.

In some diseases, a small excess of fluid in the body, even despite the heat, can be harmful.
