The latest I have seen pre extension is late 2028, mine is 2029 and still the original date.

I'm on enhanced for both aspects.
Receive letter this morning and they have extended my award for a whopping 2 weeks lol
2028 15 June is now extended to 2 July 2028..What on earth is going on lol.
Will obviously have to call them Monday. How does 2weeks and a few days warrant such a waste of resources and paper!

Lol. Have you checked the online system? It might just be a typo on the letter, meant to say 2029 instead of 2028.

Hi I'm new to the site today. I've been reading all the comments about Pip extension dates. I've just had my letter and am a bit confused. My original claim runs to just before the end of May 2028 and has been extended by just one day. Has anyone else had a one day extension? :)

Thats insane to me 🤔 I thought my 2 weeks was short, but 1 day? I wonder what the reasoning is behind that

Thinking of ringing them tomorrow. Waste of admin time considering there meant to be pushed to there limit then generating a letter with a 1 day extension.

I think you win the shortest extension length, physically impossible to get less than 1 day. 🙂
This must be an error on the computer system. These letters won't even be read by a human, so it will take one (or more) claimants phoning up to complain before the DWP realise it's gone wrong.

I called them and spoke yo s lovely lady who took a look and said will put you through to a case manager. Case manager sounded like she was working from home and had just been woken up. Case manager said looks right to me and it was left like that. I did say why generate a 1 day letter when there meant to be so busy.

Hmm, not sure I agree with that… Might be worth calling again later to speak to someone else. Or wait and see what response @Middleton gets if they call.

mine has been extended to 2030, but may be reviewed in 2029.

Update: Called PIP this morning, the advisor stated it was a generic letter and couldnt really explain why it was only a 2 week extension, so no further forward at all.

Pretty much had the same response from the PIP advisor. I thought a 2 week extension was bizarre but 1 day!😃
It will be ok though; just keep collating evidence as you go and you'll be as ready as you can be for the coming renewel.

It definitely seems like it's an automated process. I'd love to know what the algorithm is. It seems silly to send letters to extend awards for such a short amount of time!

I've just got an extension letter myself now…also for 2 weeks!🙄
Not only a silly extension, but also proves that people with initial end dates in 2029 are getting extensions.

Hi, I just joined the forum.
I had a reassessment last year (whilst I was in hospital, including ICU for nine days) and my award from it was from January 2025 to October 2029. I received an extension letter yesterday saying my award is now until October 2031, so a two year extension.
I receive Enhanced Daily Living (19 points) and Enhanced Mobility (16 points). When you say each element, do you mean the specific points for each question?
I'm unsure what they deem to be my primary issue, to be honest. My health is extremely complicated and I am under the care of multiple tertiary centres in London for various issues (genetics, neurology, cardiology, respiratory, allergy/dermatology, etc.), I am also waiting for care coordination again for severe MH issues. Also waiting on an ASD assessment too. I don't even really know what I would deem my primary problem to be truthfully, my genetic issue maybe? Or maybe the main thing that keeps getting me hospitalised? Not sure!
I am fine with the extension, I just wasn't expecting it considering I only had my reassessment last year.

Benefits and work posted a theory in a members only section.
Its a weak one but they believe the dates are automatically generated in a way to try and spread out review dates to balance out demand for assessments, instead of too many in one particular month.
They also have a theory they expect assessments to be much more simplified after 2028, which in theory should mean why the DWP are not bothered about moving a bunch of assessments to after that date and why 2029 and beyond dont seem to be getting extensions, the theory is that the dWP are going to move to a diagnosis based system, which means all the assessment on a per descriptor basis effectively stops. Very bad news for people who dont have the right diagnosis to fit the system, As for some of us we think its a good thing the assessment is complex as it catches many things the NHS cant recognise. Reduced eligibility is also expected to reduce assessment demand after 2028.
In effect these free extensions may not be as good as it would seem, I would personally prefer to be assessed before 2029 under current eligibility and current complex, get 6 years from that, and then be protected from the tougher regime for 5 years or so.1 -
Yes I have seen a few reports now, albeit not many. Apparently these letters are getting sent out over a 6 week period, so many more still to go out.
