I used to enjoy Hoegaarden, but wheat beer no longer agrees with me. I have only drank the 2 tins I didn't have last night, I fell asleep in my powerchair!

A friend of mine from England who used to live here knows everything about beer. So based on what I told him, he figured out my favourite beer is wheat beer, and this particular brand is one I tried many years ago in a local beer pub, where we hung out together. It's awesome. But I rarely go out anymore with my mobility disability. I didn't ever drink much, but I like a drink once in a while. So I decided to pick up something once in a while to have at home. I was thrilled to find this beer in my local grocery store for only €2! By the way, this is that very cool beer specialty pub....

@ChrisR777 I sometimes fall asleep in my electric recliner, which is brutal on the neck. So I bought a really good neck brace, which is really awesome.

I have tried Modelo recently. Very nice Spanish lager.

@Ross1975 I find the Extra Stout fizzy compared with the original Guinness, which takes the edge off the smoke. Regular Guinness I find super smooth, like drinking velvet.
@StarryEyed that's one of my staples when I want German beer I'm but not near a specialist beer shop, as it's sold in the supermarkets and I can see why as it's dependable and I always enjoy it

@Ross1975 I tried Guiness in my late teens as the father of one of my besties was Irish and he wanted her to drink one a day because she was horrifically underweight. She loved it. So I tried it and just gagged. Maybe I'll give it a whirl again. Is there a mild version? As in not crunchy like the normal Guinness? 😁
@ChrisR777 I can't find Hoegaarden, but I bought a few other wheat beers today, which I'll post as I consume them like others are doing here. So do you have to avoid wheat beer because of the gluten?
@66Mustang I totally agree how yummy and dependable that beer is. In fact, I'm kind of second guessing having bought others today. But it's giving me something to do. I'm so effing bored stuck inside with this heat so exploring booze is a mild form of cheap entertainment 👍😁
@Richard_Scope I've never seen that beer but I know virtually nothing about beer. To be sure I looked it up, and it's actually Mexican. See the logo on the bottleneck in this pic? Is that on yours? Just to make a connection with you, I picked up a classic Mexican beer today that I haven't had since the 90s...a Corona. 😊

I just drink Tennent's Lager now, a staple of Scottish pubs, McEwan's 80 shilling being the other in most pubs, I enjoy both, but only the latter on draught.

When I last went shopping I tried to find that Paulaner Munchen beer you were drinking but couldn't find any, but I think there were some other wheat beers which I know I've at least tried some of them in the past and iirc they were quite nice. I feel in them mood for picking one up now the next time I go shopping and to post it here.

@Ross1975 let me know if you find anything and I'll try to pick up the same. It's so very weird seeing alcohol in supermarkets and corner stores and everywhere in between. In Canada up until after I left, there were only two government-run stores for booze, which in my province of Ontario were The Beer Store and the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario). I feel surprised still by seeing it everywhere. Like a nice surprise of course. 😊

I am more a Water drinker than anything else, I have the occasional coffee and that’s about as far as I push things due to a dodgy stomach. I used to be an occasional drinker, in 2020 I got into having the odd Whiskey here and there until it was used for another purpose I can’t say, but it’s fair to say I haven’t touched a drop since.

@Rag_793 my GI tract is pretty much shot too, so I also have to go easy on alcohol and caffeine and way too many foods to list.
Perhaps it's kind of silly having drinks for/with eachother. It's just that I find it fun having concrete connections with people here on the forum and with people IRL. It amplifies the enjoyment of the object. Anyway, I bought this yesterday, before you posted. I'll have it today on your behalf....

I had an alcohol free day yesterday, it was so hot and I was drinking pints of sparkling water so fast that if they were even shandies I'd have passed out
How are the premixed drinks, out of curiosity? Do they taste different to ones you mix yourself? I always find when I buy a ready-made bottle of Vimto or Ribena it tastes different to just mixing the squash with water at home 🤔

The Jack Daniels Coke was repulsive. It tasted dusty, too sweet and had very little alcohol taste.The Coke killed a perfectly perfect whisky! Plus it really upset my stomach. I don't typically buy mixed drinks, do you? Actually I don't typically order them either because they're ridiculously expensive. But buying a bottle is so huge for one person, so I don't usually buy a bottle either. I have the vodka because one of my friends likes it, and that's a brand I like, so we'll have a snort together every now and again. Once in a while I'll buy something, and I'm thinking on getting one soon.
You know the water will run right through you unless you replace the electrolytes you've also lost with the water in your sweat? The water bonds to the electrolytes. My faves for salt are blue cheese (with watermelon) and feta cheese (with canteloupe), and for the other lost electrolytes I eat a lot of fruits and veggies.
Are you a fan of sparkling water? I have that too every day along with regular water just to change things up a bit. It's quite nice.

Tennent's have a new 'Tennent's Tops' out, Ive ordered some on my delivery tomorrow. Do people in England and Wales ask for a 'lager tops' in the pub - lager with a dash of lemonade? (just enough to remove the bitterness).
