Second bedroom UC rent

Hi my son is moving out later this year because he is getting married. We live in two bedroom house. My rent is covered by UC. My son was my registered carer before but now he works full time but still cares for me but nit a paid carer. Now when he will be moving out later this year. My daughter and son will be taking turns to stay over night for my care. Will uc cover the rent of that second bedroom? The rent is low where i live and finding new place and new landlord who accepts a disable who doesnt work will be a great challenge all over. I cant imagine going through that again 😭

    If you are continuing to receive frequent overnight care from a non resident carer, UC should cover the rent for a second bedroom.

    You'll need to report the change after your son moves out via the appropriate section on your Journal.

    You can then write a Journal note (using the payment option) stating your new care arrangements and requesting the second bedroom be included in your Housing Element.

    If UC don't pay, you can ask them to look again at that decision (Mandatory Reconsideration) and go to an independent appeal tribunal if they don't change the decision.
