Going Cold Turkey On Vaping!
I've been vaping for about 2 and a half years now and I really want to stop! I want to get fitter, healthier, and better my mental health, so my plan is to just go cold turkey and avoid NRT (if I can)… I know it will be hard but I am determined to do it! I am going to also start running again, something which I have not done since about 3 years ago. Has anyone on here done something similar whether smoking or vaping? If so, you got any tips or tricks I can try to help me out?

I don't know about vaping, but giving up smoking is easy: I've done it hundreds of times…

Good luck with this Sight! Very wise, but it perhaps won't be easy. Let me cheer you on :)

Good luck @sightsmash! I don't have any tips other than when you get a craving, just think about the end goal and how much better you'll feel if you resist.

I've downloaded the NHS Couch to 5K app on my phone, so going to give that a try for my fitness, that's half the battle though, eventually I can quit this vaping alongside it!

Good on you! I have faith that you can do this. Just be careful when exercising in this heat. It's probably the worst week to start 😅Maybe the vaping will naturally stop as you'll feel better in yourself from running and you won't need it. Have you got a pen or fidget toy or something you could use so you can break the habit of reaching for the vape?

Not yet but I can get hold of something I'm sure

Good for you @sightsmash! I'm a smoker and do find that exercise reduces how much I smoke. I'd love to get to a point like you soon, where I'm ready to quit. The NHS might have some help in reducing nicotine intake etc if you find that might be helpful.
The couch to 5k sounds like a great place to start! Have you got a smart watch? I find tracking my workouts and steps really helps to encourage me ☺️

I don't have a smart watch no, but I plan on getting an Apple Watch

I quit cold turkey too. A fidget toy really helped me. Running keeps your hands and mind busy—you’ve got this.

Excellent @Sanzinarika!! Do you have any more tips you can share?
How has it been going @sightsmash?😊0 -
I stopped smoking on Monday, after nearly 40 years. It wasn't through choice, but the fact that Regal are now hitting £20 a packet! They were about £1.50 when I started smoking at school.

Good on you @ChrisR777! How are you finding quitting so far?

I must admit I feel quite resentful, I said numerous times that HMG weren't going to nanny me off cigarettes, but I just simply can't afford it now; I was making a packet last 3 days, instead of the normal 1 day. I used to buy 20 cigarettes without even thinking about it, but £20 is alot of money.
I could have gone the route of next door. They now smoke the very cheapest cigarettes available, but the smell from them turns my stomach tbh.
I am currently coughing all the time, but i am assured that will pass in a few weeks.

That's amazing @ChrisR777, well done on having such willpower! Imagine £20 a day, geez.
I'm coughing all the time at the moment too but I think I've caught something 😅

Yeah £20 is a lot for a pack and I can imagine it adds up really quickly too @ChrisR777. Hopefully the cough will go soon and you'll start to feel the benefits😊

Anyone who has £140 a week to burn, they are sacrificing absolutely everything to feed their habit. The couple next door are retired, and all their private pension goes on cigarettes; smelly, low quality ones at that (Still about £14 a packet).
The coughing is just the lungs starting to heal themselves, clearing out mucus and toxins. I've heard plenty people over the years joking that so and so should start smoking again, what a nasty cough etc. 🙄
