Who Was Your Favourite Sesame Street Character?
My favourite puppet character was Mr Aloysius Snuffleupagus, and for the human contingent, i'm going with music teacher - Bob Johnson.

Ah I wish I'd grown up watching Sesame Street. I love the Muppets, but for some reason we never watched Sesame Street! I'll have to go back and watch some to fill in that part of my childhood ๐
I know of some of the characters but I wasn't very familiar with Mr Snuffleupagus before your post. A quick google tells me he is an excellent choice!
I do have a soft spot for Elmo I have to say. There was a point a couple of years ago where Elmo asked people how they were feeling on Twitter and lots of adults told him they weren't doing so well. It turned into a whole emotional wellbeing moment. Bizarre but oddly enjoyable to read through!
Is Gus' name related to Mr Snuffleupagus or just a coincidence?

A tie between The Count and The Cookie Monster. Absolutely adored them. They were so funny!

I have just learned that man who performed as Cookie Monster, Bert, and Grover, he was born in Hereford (Frank Oz).

To be honest I was brought up watching stuff like Playschool, Rosie & Jim, Tinytots, 80s Cartoons, Rainbow, Trap Door etc but the one Sesame Street Character that I can associate with is Oscar The Grouch

I never saw Playschool but this is the same as me. I know I watched a few episodes of Sesame Street and Oscar the Grouch and Mr Snuffleupagus are actually the only two I remember so would have to say they are my favourite.

Gus is a common abbreviation of Angus. My daughter asked me at the time, if it was short for Gustav! ๐

I have to post the catchiest counting song ever

I remember the 'song', I imagine it featured many times across the years.

I love this song @ChrisR777! I love how the girl really got into it. I wonder if she became a singer?

Maybe she did become a singer, we'we'll never know!
I see it was aired on PBS, and must have been beneficial to generations of US children. Guess which POTUS wants to shut tthat particular network down? ๐ค (Probably thinks it's communist).
I can't remember when I viewed Sesame Street, it must have been early morning at the weekend, i'll have to find out.
My old man stayed in bed until 09:00 on Saturday mornings, my mum would have been off to her shop assistant job with M&S, then later with Next when it first opened here.

I remember it being on very early in the morning in the 90s. I think I watched it on Channel 4. There'd be Pokemon and the Simpsons on too. Children will never know how awful it was to have to watch a program you didn't like just to get to the one you really wanted to watch!
I miss having lazy weekend mornings watching tv in bed. We don't have a tv in our bedroom now because I don't think I'd ever leave ๐

Bert 100%
I always like when a grumpy character can be made loveable (still welcome and included, even when their mood could be frowned upon)
