LCWRA and moving house
Hi, I'm currently waiting for the outcome of my Work Capability Assessment to find out whether I'll be awarded LCWRA, and I have a question about how it might affect my future plans.
If I am awarded LCWRA, would moving out of the family home and living independently affect my entitlement?
I'm autistic and also experience anxiety and depression, which were the main issues discussed during my assessment. I'm hoping to move out and live independently in the future, but I'm worried that I might end up having to choose between pursuing that independence and receiving the additional financial support.
I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences from people who have been in a similar situation. Thanks!

No you can get LCWRA element regardless of your living situation.
Your overall UC entitlement would go up as you'd be eligible for Housing Element.
If renting social housing, your full rent would be covered.
If renting privately, the amount you can get varies. Universal Credit uses your Local Housing Allowance rate to determine the amount.
If under 35 and no PIP, you'd get the shared room rate.
If under 35 with PIP, or over 35, you'd be eligible for the one bedroom rate.
LHA often doesn't cover the whole rent, so you'd need to top it up from your other income.
