Hi, My names Ryan. Looking forward to speaking to actual other humans again. I'm stuck in a particularly cruel mixture of situations here and on my own. I need a hug. Thats not happening so a chat will have to do... 😎

Aaw thanks..... πŸ«‚ I will waffle if I just start telling about myself... πŸ˜†

I'm an artist. Sculptor too when my hands worked. Hopefully that can be fixed. I have cervical myolopathy and I was house and bed bound anyway for 25 years with a lumbar fusion I never really recovered from. A new miracle medication got me up and about but then my neck has happened right away. Now my arms and legs aren't working and I'm also alone now. So it all feels like the end but I mean, what do you do? Gotta try... So I'm trying and hoping I can still build a life like this somehow on my own... Its my 50th next month and I'm dreading it. I miss my pets that she took away too... Its all pretty ploppy really.... I feel like nobody will want me now but again, I'll have to try somehow... and that's me. 😎

Oh wow! We have Kaleidoscope where we share our artistic creations if you'd be willing to share yours?

That sounds like you've been through such a lot @GentlyMelted. Do you have any support at all? What things do you enjoy that maybe you could do for your birthday?

Unfortunately arms and legs were mainly what did all my favourite things.. πŸ˜†

All that's on the cards for me is struggling around the emergency housing until I can be operated on. I'm hoping for a place of my own soon. I'm too old and broken for this.. So that's part of why I'm dreading it. I can't do anything let alone anything fun. I'm on the list for social care. But I mean.... My body is screaming at me that I should be in hospital NOW. Staying calm about this is difficult alone. Its so severe. My arms go purple if I try and use them. I stumbled if I get up and go faint. ... So yeah... the only grain of future I can even try to look at here is housing if that works out. Apparently the fact it was domestic abuse will help me... Unfortunately my brain does t work properly either from this. My spinal cord is impinged. Arranging things and planning is near impossible… Any given thing has last straw effect potential. But I've done well so far surfing the disaster wave....

Support wise. Nope. No family now and one friend far far away.... Its just me and niggling feeling this might be fatal...

I'm so sorry @GentlyMelted. How are you coping without any support around the house? Are you able to feed and wash yourself?

Do you know when you'll be operated on?

When you say you suspect it might be fatal, are you referring to your condition or are you feeling suicidal? If you do feel in danger please call 999 straightaway, or you can speak to the Samaritans on 116 123. I would recommend looking into mental health support. Here is some information for you https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/mental-health-services/

    Apologies for all the questions.

The condition. Before I knew what it was a year ago now, my body was screaming at me then that something is drastically wrong get to hospital! And yup.... bone spurring and disc bulges crushing my actual spinal cord. I was half way convinced it was motor neurone disease onset given the scary symptoms and the fact I get new ones near daily and severity gets worse Almost daily. So myolopathy was kinda good news in a way because MND would mean death. So I live! Yay... with no arms and legs..boo.... I can feed and clean myself yes but its increasingly taking everything i have left to do it. Its clear that I'm heading for being unable to get up out of bed. I have vascular tests on Wednesday because there are also nerves arteries and veins getting cut off. Once they've done that they will know exactly what surgery is needed and then they tell me at the spinal unit.... I have bilateral nerve Impingement at c5-c6 with spinal cord impingement myolopathy, foraminal narrowing, bone spurring and radiculopathy.... 😎

No I'm not suicidal. Very very concerned and balancing on a razors edge yes. But I want whatever future is there for me. But being human and alone and subject to the sheer amount of really big.deal stuff that's happening to me is concerning. Very very concerning. I'm managed to get the ball rolling on most of the issues but I can't handle stress. It makes the myolopathy MUCH MUCH worse really quickly and there's stress still. I'm struggling to escape it. The doctor has applied for advocacy for me and I'm on the list for social care but I mean... I've been like this a year and I have nothing left and d.head wife's solicitors after me in this state. I think I've kept them at bay. Legal aid is yet another thing I'm trying to organise while unable to think and organise or handle stress with a squashed spinal cord. Way too much for way too long and still waiting for help....

I'm happy to hear you're not suicidal. You can disregard my email if it's not useful to you.

I hope they're able to get you booked in for surgery soon. What will your recovery look like?

Have you had a social care needs assessment?

I'm so sorry that you're also having to deal with the stress of solicitors. You're clearly a strong person for going through all of this. Are your basic needs met in terms of food and heating?

Again, sorry for all the questions.

Needs are met now yes. I was on the streets like thus because of what happened. I probably shouldn't go into detail there incase I can get justice happening when I get legal aid. She didn't believe my arms had stopped working. I started to starve and everything....

Anyway now I'm at least indoors, dry and fed, it's nice to talk to another human. It's been a long time.... Is there much in the way of chat happens here? I'll share some of my artwork where you showed me... I still have at least some pictures. I lost ALL of my possesions too so thousands of photographs of my work are gone sadly.. Still, if my arms recover which they might but its not guaranteed, I'll get busy making again..... Where abouts are you?

I'm really glad your needs are met. I'm so sorry to hear of more difficult experiences you've been through. I hope you're able to get the justice you deserve.

We'd love to see your art! I hope that you're able to make more in the future.

I'm part of the Scope team and I'm based in Yorkshire, whereabouts are you? As it's the weekend the community tends to be quieter. There are many more people around during the week. We have lots of chats in our Coffee Lounge about all sorts of different things and we encourage you to create your own too 😊

Hahahaha it is! I'd forgotten already... cor thanks 😎 I love my art and sculpture... Once they maybe fix me ill be perfectly happy if I live somewhere safe, have a garden (I love growing flowers and stuff) and can do my art and sculpture. I can even have a whole room dedicated to it now without anyone fretting about mess. Me boss. Me always boss now. πŸ˜†

Hi :) I have recently moved away from Devon, but lived there for a few years! I also enjoy art in many mediums, I'm not very good at sticking to one lol! Your art is super cool, and I love flowers so hearing that you love to grow them is really cool. Are there any flowers you like best? I quite like sunflowers. I've tried pressing one recently, not sure how it will come out when I take it out the press in a few weeks but I'll have to wait and see. I'm sorry to hear about your health, sending love and best wishes

Thanks! I love so many kinds of flowers and plants. I do have pet ones too though like vines, I love a vine. Carnivorous plants, Butterwort is a pet plant. Chilli's I LOVE chilli's! Especially the Bolivian rainbow chilli plant. Those look like fake Christmas trees... I usually have pet garden spiders too and let a few breed inside my conservatory I used to have. Just hoping I get the baby ball out in time... πŸ˜† Fingers crossed I can do all that again some day soon. I miss my life... I love pressing flowers too!
