Where r so many of us going so wrong

still wondering why so many of us with such an obvious problem with poor memory are getting nil points.

My first thought is some how or another the question is being answered wrongly.  Time and time again  throughout my assessment papers, some comment relates to poor memory and yet nil points. Maybe it's because I remember  what I have forgotten to do. Maybe. I should be coming from another angle like the number of bottles of tomato ketchup in the cupboard, or the brand new microwave I bought and  stashed away only realising what I had done when I found it.  What do others think?

I know the "many bottles tomato ketcup " thing. Bloody annoing. I find lots of stuff i dont remember buying. And buying and buying.
I think the comcil should help us with getting rid of such items. Cos its our illness NOT us that as caused the problems

I think you will need to tackle each descriptor and show specifically how a poor memory impacts on it, bearing in mind that a condition has to be present for the majority of time as well as the reliability factors.

I can see that a case could be made for a need for prompting for descriptors
1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 for a total of 12 points, but as with all hidden claims, proving it may be very difficult

i welcome any other thoughts as it is a problem to quite a few people

Hello @charlene,I’m glad I’m not the only one getting nil for memory even though my  specialist wrote me a letter stating my memory was getting worse as my condition got worse.I don’t know what we should be doing

Hahaha, my gosh, that is so funny!

BUT, honestly this question is really getting to me.  As well as the food I have just given to the dog or thrown out, because I have forgotten I have bought it and is now rotten, or out of date.  It upsets me so much the amount of food I  throw out pounds worth of food, I keep saying to myself, remember  to eat the food you have before buying anymore in,  but that does not work.

For me it was safety that I was awarded the points I got.
Forgetting while cooking- high risk of death.

I almost feel that because memory infringes on so many conditions and is a side effect of medications, it's just ignored?

Some days I am just one big side effect.  :)
I suppose if I wrote that I didn't notice the pavement had ended and I was walking along the road instead that's no big deal. But that road was the motorway and it got me a lift with two men in fancy dress. Risk - very high.

Hello Cockny Rebel.  I scored on 1,4, and 6. And was very surprised as I was supplying evidence for disability not prompting. Actual that is a score of 50 per cent am I right.

I have just checked and  the assessor says I need prompting, on 1, 3, 4, 6 and 9.

So a need for prompting should have scored you 10 points

If I am correct I have 12 pts, just waiting for the confirmation letter.  It the the Assessor who veered the result to that concludtion, I was. Supplying evidence for physical disability. What surprised me though she wrote I had no memory problems.

What I wrote and backed up on my forms was dismissed by the assessor.
He decided I had no problems and scored me zero for what I said i needed assistance/ prompting.
Insight- you can keep yourself safe. If I didn't provide the reasons I needed help that would be not enough proof!

    Is that question to me?
No I'm not. I can't see how I can provide more proof that I have memory issues. It effects every aspect of my life not just the twelve descriptors- but- in relation to pip points the assessor felt I didn't need prompting because I knew my school etc.
The only thought I did have, was to pay for an independent memory assessment and supply that?

Sorry Whistles, for omitting your name, and thanks for responding.  Not for a moment do I think I have solved the mystery of Nil Points, but I have been doing a little research on this subject  and my gut feeling is that we do have poor memories, but we are all doing similar things! I think to stand out from the crowd and get points,  we have to do something unusual,.  Maybe just maybe, my attempt to pay twice for my groceries.

hi charlene. i wondered about this. i have hydrochphalus which causes all sorts of problems such as short term memory loss and sometimes affects my speech. they don't seem to consider thing like that in the assessment. i was scored 0 for that part of my assessment. the assessor tried to catch me out. he listed 3 items and asked me 10 minutes later to tell him what they were i did remember the items but after the assessment i thought i should have got it it wrong on purpose. he also asked me to spell the word world backwards and i remember having to try it 7 times before i got it right then i was asked count backwards from 100 subtracting 7 from the last number which i also struggled with. eg 100-7=93 i kept getting it wrong. what planet are these people on!
