Hi 12Shaddow and welcome CTR is governed by each individual council. We did have a member report the same thing recently CRBe all you can be, make every day count. Namaste

@Username_removed advisedCouncils cannot end their CTR scheme. They have a legal obligation. They can revise it and, as increase the minimum payment everyone pays, or, perhaps scale back the discount scheme. They cannot possibly have ended it completely though

Hi12Shaddow
i would check with your local council on that.I do know that people who migrate from esa onto Universal Credit have to claim separately for council tax as this is not included in your claim but housing benefit is.

Hello @12Shaddow you might like to check if you are on contributions based ESA or income based ESA, as I think the DWP only pay contributions based ESA for one year. If that is the case for you, you can claim council tax reduction as someone on a low income instead.

It's all to confusing for me. Last year I paid 21 pound a month and this year it's dropped to 7pound a month. I'm single and on pip and esa so not sure how this has happened as haven't had a change in circumstances. Hope they've got it right and don't tell me at a later date I owe them more
