Hi
My mum suffers from different mental health and I'm currently appealing her PIP. We received a appeal date in 3 weeks time. I wanted to know can a person who suffers from severe depression, psychosis and severe anxiety be eliglible for enhanced rate of PIP as she unable to go out of the house without someone. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

Hi @AFB,
Rethink has given some information on getting mobility rates for mental health reasons, and how that will be impacted by the recent court rulings.
From my understanding of it, it can be very difficult at the moment for people to get the enhanced rate for mental health reasons, but that should hopefully be changing soon.0 -

Yes, indeed they can. My daughter claims it because she's never been out alone and she's 17. She can't count money, or tell the time either. If she went out alone and got lost she wouldn't know what to do. For example she couldn't use a timetable because she can't tell the time. She's not road safe either and doesn't understand what she has to do to cross the road safely. She has support workers that help her to go out a couple of times a week.AFB said:Hi @poppy123456

Not everyone with mental health can successfully claim Enhanced mobility, it totally depends on how that person is affected by the mental health.
