Carers Allowance and income from lodger.

I live in my own home and care for my mother in her home.I am thinking of taking on a lodger so I will be a residential landlord. I also work 14 hrs pw = £119pw.
How is the income from my lodger assessed.

    I think Mike's link is a good place to start. It's not possible to answer your question without knowing what benefits you are currently claiming. Unless you are going to let out the room as part of self-employment, the rental income would be disregarded for carer's allowance. But for means-tested (income-based) benefits, the picture is much more complicated.
