Hi new member here husband is wheel chair user. we have a through floor lift which is out of order as door flew open with husband inside so had to get fire brigade out to the rescue  but when I phoned company who installed the lift they weren't interestered as it was over a year old and just wanted money which we don't have we told them the fire officer said it was not fit for purpose.  Can you gave us any info into what to do and we own our house

We are still a part of Europe and therefore all companies have to abide by this directive.

Hi @rosmeckenzie16           Regardless of the length of any guarantee period anything you buy should be fit for purpose taking into consideration of the purchase price.  If you're sure you have a valid grievance may I suggest that you seek advice from your local Citizens Advice Centre with a view to taking it further.

Really good answer by @ayjay.         Have you consulted your household insurance policy to see if this is covered?

    Best wishes.
