Hi, my name is Steph and I’m trying to help my in laws. They have a son who is 50 and has cerebral palsy. They are making plans for the future as they have poor health and are starting to strgggle caring for him. Part of this is that they are looking at care homes for their son. We could really do with any advice people have. They are Manchester based Trafford council. Does anybody have any advice in any way from making sure they pick the “right” home, dealing with the council etc any advice is welcome! Thank you so much in advance!

Hi @scarr - I imagine it must be really challenging, practically and emotionally, to start sorting things like this out.
Sense have been doing some great work trying to help families in exactly this situation which I hope you might find helpful.
Hopefully other community users will get in touch shortly to share their experiences and words of wisdom good luck!

Hi @scar
Maybe it would be an idea to network with disability organisations local to the area where your in-laws live, here are a couple of organisations that I found:
http://www.manchestercpsociety.btck.co.uk/
http://disabilitystockport.co.uk/
I think it is possible that people who know the area may be able to give you some pointers about facilities locally.
Best Wishes
