Lowering medication

At the moment they have just weaned me off dhc and now trying topamax due to my severe headaches, I am now receiving lidocaine infusion every 6mths which is great, but I still need some sort of pain relief  Iv started trying cbd capsules which are making me very relaxed but a bit too much, and not much help in the pain department  obviously don't need much after the lidocaine but when it wears off the pain it's unbearable, has anybody any other ideas no opioids not  again  please help Kaz

    It would be best to discuss medication with a qualified professional. Have you seen someone from a pain clinic?

    I've found that pranayama breathing exercises have really helped. I noticed you're off the opiates ( well done). My experience with those was that they left me unable to function and the long term use left me me hyper sensitive to even the slightest touch.  My physio team were fantastic at supporting me to understand this, as were sivanader yoga. I've slso found acupuncture really helps as well as aromatherapy ( for the shower or bath if you can't bear massage yet). Good luck x

    I am so sorry that you are suffering, but you have done really well weaning yourself off the opiates - I have done this myself so do know how tough it is.  The opiates can also make the pain worse with long term use.
    Am I right in thinking you have migraines or cluster headache??  Clarabelle has already suggested a couple of great therapies - yoga or pilates can be really useful with all chronic pain, along with mindfulness or meditation.  There are various apps out there but a good starting point is Headspace.  Are you under a specialist pain team?  Ask your GP to refer you if not, and also to a physio who offers acupuncture. 
    There is a lot to be said for changes to diet, but I would suggest that you ask your GP/pain team for  dietician support to consider a restriction diet in order to identify possible triggers for your pain.
    Trying to keep yourself as fit as possible, but also pacing yourself and taking rest breaks when you need to - I think that most of feel an increase in pain with stress, so for me anything that helps me to relax!
